It has an acid and stone wash job on the blade now.
Here are some with custom scales.

I don't hate the stock scale. Kind of like it actually. I just want to dabble in customizing a bit.

Oh, for sure! I love all the custom jobs I've seen, in fact. I've just read a bunch of comments on other threads where people straight up say they hate the stock scale, or that it's butt-ugly.

Its not a 500 series... but

I love the stock scales on the knives but I love to see people's skills and what comes out of it. Making scales and doing mods takes some skill for sure.

Awesome work, everyone!

To those of you with custom scales.. are you doing them yourselves or what? I ordered an orange kryptoglow scale and put it on today. I'm not crazy about it. More of a black/green/brown guy myself. Looking at maybe getting something different.
. Orange looks amazing In my opinion. I just made an orange scale last night. I will try and post it later on.

Polished the spine, the screws on this side only, the pivot screw, the tops and bottoms of the stand offs, and the clip. Then I used some steel wool to put a little bit of a flatter look to the clip and to hide wear marks because this one is in my pocket daily.

The other side looks like this

I love my 550 but my eye has been wandering. That new Carbon Fiber ZT coming out has really got some good looks!

The new slicer grind with the carbon fiber scale looks awesome. Here is a scale I did last night.

That looks really nice Vader1.

Here is my orange scale ...

I'm already back to the stock scale. The orange one had a few things going against it.. I couldn't get the blade centered with it on for some reason, I'm not real into bright colors to begin with, and I think the black hardware looks bad with it.

Is it hand made or CNC ? Sometimes CNC scales don't have any character. The pivot area may be drilled wrong or something and that's causing your pivot issues. It does looks off a hair. That scale may have been ok with a black blade. It is a good pattern but the shade and texture of the material isn't standing out. I know what you are saying and why you aborted it. It may take a while till you are happy with something.

Rival I actually sent you an email a couple of days ago about some scale options and pricing. Do you know if you got it? It'd be from Alex Wilson. I really dig your work.

Thank you all...some lovely pieces here I've got a 550, 560, and 566 and I'm gonna get two of them done up for sure maybe the third

I did a scale in Lava flow this morning, I'm very new at making scales. My lava pieces didn't have much flow but there is a cool little hot-rod flame out back. All the scale work I see here is absolutely gorgeous.
