Show off your Murse!

damn i am gonna bring this back to the top as i missed so many questions. the name tape on it i got in the military but i am sure you can order them somewhere.

i usually don't carry the little one with the bag , i usually try to make her walk and carry it for me lol

it all fits in there, i am very good at packing from my time as a grunt. i learned quick how to make it happen. and i believe it weighs in at 11-13 lbs depending on the season and wether the canteen is full. also i guess you can't see in the pics but i have the janus extension and a barnacle on it where the watch was.

the whole kit is a bit over kill but i do edc it its always around me. to where i can get at it and go if i have to. i work 30 miles from my house and i figured i better have what i need if i something were to go down and i had to get home with nothing but what's on me. again sorry to everyone for the late responses.

OK, I finally figured out what this thread is about. It's about our shoulder bags or man purses, right? If I am carrying lunch or going to be out for most of the day, I carry my gear in a Maxpedition Jumbo. Most of the time I just carry a water bottle and some stuff in my pockets. I like my bag on the left for some reason, even though I am right handed. You can see my ESEE-6 in the sheath with a belt clip attaching it to the strap. It rides in front for an easy cross draw.

But some places don't want me carrying knives, so I have this folding Kukri that rides in a pouch for those times when I do not carry the fixed blade.

Sometimes I carry a pistol or revolver in the back of the bag. Sometimes just my little Keltec in my pocket. I have carried this .38 for years. Not a lot of firepower, but stone reliable.

Anyway, I have the usual kit in my bag, a poncho, a multi-tool, some insect repellant and such. I am not emptying it out today. Got to finish my coffee.

Some folks who carry a gun or a knife everyday keep them in the murse. The knife I could sorta understand. But if you're a CCW holder like myself, what good could the gun do in your murse? There's really not going to be enough time to get to it should you need it in a pinch. Keep your gun on your hip like a grown man please. I understand certain working environments might force you to keep it in the murse, but if you've got the option otherwise...there's no excuse.

I carry my Glock in mine all the time, don't need an excuse. :p ;) But seriously, I do have a good reason. I live in a state without concealed carry, but have cc permits in other states. It is legal for me to put the Glock in the murse (Jumbo Fatboy) unloaded and travel outside the state, then I can load it and carry it. But by that point it is easier and convenient to just leave it in the bag. With the cc compartment on the Fatboy, it isn't that slow to draw, albeit not as fat as a holster. It is a calculated risk vs. convenience.

here is mine. its missing my guyot bottle and stainless cup but they are on the couch. i consider this a murse/ get home bag so it has a good amount of stuff in it.

Dang! I would have never believed you could get that much stuff in a Jumbo Fatboy! I need to rethink how I pack, apparently. That is impressive!

I think those name-tags can be bought at uscav.com.

I also carry a maxpedition jumbo versi (s-type). I am right handed but prefer to carry it on the left side of the body as to not hinder my access to my firearm (right side 3-4 O'Clock). I also added the Janus extension as well as the medium sized rolly polly.

The paracord and the firestarter go into the side pocket. The OC and hand sanitizer go into the side zipper pocket with the grimlock attached.

I made my own gun holster/mag holster with industrial velcro. The izula usually rides in the gun holster section.

Some quick sugar snacks and energy on the top pocket with the "Molon Labe" patch.

Buff, water proof cell phone bag, ear protection and chapstick in the very front zipper pocket.
IMG_20101207_010656.jpg

BM pen, write in the rain pad and a sharpie in the front sleeve.
IMG_20101207_010919.jpg

Quick medical kit with a quick clot, emergency straw water filter, lighter, delica 4 se, light stick in the zipper pouch with the red reflective cord.

Main compartment with some more snacks, gloves, hand cream (can also be used to soak PBJ cotton balls) spare batteries and cell charger.

Side shot of how much the medium rolly polly and janus pouch can hold.

I carry this bag when I leave the house. I'll usually leave it in the car, but Ill have it on my person when I walk my dog, go on a quick hike or am walking around the city (minus the fixed balde).

i like that rolly polly. i may have to add one of those for just in case out in the woods type stuff. it seems super small but opens up to hold a ton of shit. very nice pouch from the looks and would be very versatile

and rockspyder i was just joking semi making a point. if you carry and practice drawing from the murse ccw pocket that is fine but most people will just stick their gun in there and assume they will be able to grab it and use when need be. that definitely isn't the case cause it takes some getting use to vs using the holster. no offense was meant. and yes these packs/murses can hold a ton of stuff

Does this count? Its my camera bag I carry almost everywhere. I'll carry my SOG Aegis in my pocket though..

I wish I had a tad larger bag.. wish it had room for my RC-3.. guess I'll just have to wait for the Izula folder..

No offense taken at all. Besides, my comment about the ccw in the bag was intended for someone else ( I think Magus?). But in either case, no offense taken. The smilies were intended to convey the humor. :)

I've practiced it a little, but probably not enough. But I do realize the limitations of my carriage there.

Any of you check out a Maxpedition Remora gearslinger for I'm looking at one but I'm not sure if it's worth my 70ish dollars. I live in the Ventura county of the USCR so even if I was 21 I'm wouldn't be looking at any gun use anyways; only knives, snacks, ipod, mini-bible, etc.

Havent read all the posts but i've got a question.
I am looking for a SLR camera bag that doesnt scream "look im carrying expensive photo gear" and functions well in the ourdoors. A maxped versipack looks like it could function as a good camera bag.
Are there other people here that take there camera our regularly and use such a bag? Doesnt have to be huge. Camera with lens attached and an extra lens, small tripod, some light edc gear.

You could create a thread and ask about it in this forum. Lots of good recommendations. http://photography-on-the.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=34

This thread has everyone's camera bags. Not too much outdoor stuff though. Most bags they carry outdoors are LowePro etc. http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=36952

I carry a Crumpler 5 Million Dollar Home, but I don't hike with it. I normally attatch 1 lens, stick it in my neoprene case, and throw it in my backpack with my other stuff. Don't like to bring the tripod/lenses on hikes..

I use a Remora as a small diaper/carry bag for my granddaughter’s stuff. The Remora has a mini rollypoly on one side and the M2 on the other.
The Remora holds snacks, one change of clothes, and all the other stuff like wipes, sunscreen etc….. The mini rollypoly holds her water bottle and the M2 holds my keys and cell phone when I don’t feel like putting them in my pockets.
I originally bought it to use as a get home bag.

Do I think it’s worth the money??? Not really, I could have bought something less expensive that would do just as good a job at holding things.
But it looks cool!

The Maxpedition COLOSSUS VERSIPACK would be a awesome Camera bag, I might have to get one just for day hiking.....

Yeah what he said (about Photography On The Net aka POTN)! Also you can check DPReview.com too.

Have seen the colossus, that and the Jumbo look nice. As in tripod i dont mean full size, just ordered a Gorillapod SLR and thinking about a Velbon maxi-mini or 460 mini.
