Show off your Single Blade Slippys

Haven't seen one of these threads for a while so I thought Id do a recap :). Anyways, was just was wondering who else has only had a love for single bladed traditionals?

FOr several reasons I carry single bladed knives:
1) it is what I am comfortable with. Even my SAKS only ever had one blade
2) I find single bladed knives more aesthetically pleasing when opened. I often find multibladed knives feel awkward or look odd when the blade is pushed to the side
3) I find the extra folded blades are very uncomfortable in the hand. I even find my SAKs get uncomfortable with extended carving for example
4) I just don't really need extra blades. Never felt the need for a mini blade.

Ive always wanted to like multibladed slip joints but they just dont do it for me. Am I the only one that feels this way? Maybe you multi bladed fold can help convince me to have another look :D

Anyways, have a great day guys

Me! I carried my Schrade 194OT today and my Buck 302 yesterday and one other day this week and my avatar knife is a single blade canoe, also carried early in the week and some last week. Yep. I like and use single blade slippies. Probably more than multiblades with the exception that mini copperhead I like so well.

In fact, Jason Baker sent me a message showing me his single blade sowbelly. I immediately set off to find one. Didn't connect with one so far, but I did pick up a 3 blade stock model. Maybe I can get someone to handle taking the spey and sheepsfoot out of it.

I had purchased one of the single blade Buck 301s earlier and just couldn't get happy, but when the 302s came out (same knife, different number), I picked up a couple of the yellow handled ones. I've warmed up to it and like it quite a bit. The 301 is fine too, I just didn't connect with it at first.

Here is some of mine. The Buck 301 is the bottom knife and the top knife is my wharncliffe mini trapper by Case; a sweet knife itself.

I like single blade customs. I also like multi-blade production knives. But that may be due to the fact that single blade customs are significantly cheaper than multi-blade patterns.

My work carry is a Victorinox Compact. Main blade, scissors, combo opener, corkscrew, corkscrew screwdriver, pen, pin, tweezers, & toothpick. Does all I need it to & more.

Love my Case Swayback Gent, but I am having a bear of a time getting the edge reprofiled from the goofup the factory did. Sharp, but no where near where it should be.

My Schrade Jack might as well be a single blade as I hardly use the smaller blade.

i love single bladed slippies. ive been carrying my case slimline tracker everyday for the last month or so and im still not tired of carrying it. also love carrying my sodbuster. also plan on picking up a swayback gent, love the wharncliffe blade on it!

I am looking forward to hearing from single blade carriers. I have tried and do not care for single blades, although I am always looking for an excuse to try another to see if it is right for me. I'll formulate my thoughts through the night and check back tomorrow.

I have carried single blade traditional knives for the majority of my life, but most of them (not all) have been lockbacks. Gerber Silver Knight, Buck Lite lockbacks, plus the Queen #06L linerlock have been my EDC for over 25 years total (I'm now 55).

Currently I favor multi-blade slipjoints, especially if they have a straight edge (sheepfoot or Wharncliffe) plus a curved edge (clip, skinner or spear), with one of them smaller than the other. I just really like the versatility of this combo.

Single blades get used a lot at home, but to carry, I prefer having two or more different blades on a single frame.

a single blade works for me. but sometimes the different blade shapes come in handy. i don't care much for the single blades saks. to me it isn't really a sak, and might as well carry something else with better steel.

I like a single blade for the aesthetics and handling.

But, I also like the versatility of 2-3 blades....

Singles are sleek, slim and look very gent like.

That said, like Willgoy, I like the versatility of 2 blades in my slippies.

I can understand if someone would be "out there somewhere" and therefore need knife with several blades. But in most cases, most of us are very close to backup knives (especially us knifenuts).

That being said, I think aesthetics play big part to everyone wether admitted or not. :)

Probably 95% of the knives I own are 1 bladers (100% of the fixed blades :D) and all the knives I carry only have 1 blade. Aesthetics is a big reason but I find a knife with multiple blades is usually uncomfortable (for me) to use because the blade(s) not being used alters the feel/grip of the knife.

me too,
as an edc i like both single but also multi blades (2-3 max) as sometimea a smaller blade or one for packages/dirty work is handy
for the woods or as a working knife i usually prefer single blades because htey're more comfy in the hand

it depends

For me it has a lot to do with the pattern of the knife. I prefer a two blade double end to a two blade single end. I carry a swayback gent almost everyday. I don't think I've ever wished that I'd gotten the swayback jack.

I'm an equal opportunity kinda guy. If it has a handle and a blade, I'll probably like it. :D

Okay, mostly I prefer two blades. I find a small pen blade quite useful. I always have a largish single blade as well for extended work such as skinning a deer...
