While posting in another thread I got to thinking about my main EDC knife. It is a BM 710 that I have had for going on 7 years. I fell in love with the Bradley Alias knives and ended up with both the small and large versions. I EDC the Alias I for a while, but never took it out with the intentions doing hard work. If something came up I would use it for that task, and it held up well but there was a part of me that make sure not to take it to the point some might say abuse.

The BM 710 on the other hand is another story. Just off hand I remeber getting stuck in the wood and using the knife to cut small pine trees down to put inder the tires for traction. The 710 has been on every camping trip in those 7 years. The first camping trip is what got me over the cosmetics of the knife. After two weeks in my waist band getting sweat on the blade 12 hours a day pitted the D2 steel. I brought it home and went to town with the sander and convexed the blade removing most pits. Some were deeper than most, but they now add to her beauty. This is still my go to knife and hope it hold up for another 7 more.

If you have an EDC you have carried for some time, please post some pictures and show these faithfull friend some love.

I think you might be hard-pressed to find many more people like you... most people here can't go a month without buying a new knife, let alone three years :o

I might buy new knives, but I carry the same ones (generally).

I carried the same BM griptillian for close to 2 years before it got tossed in the nightstand (and honestly, because my rat-1 is an easier to lose piece of kit due to cost being 1/4 of the BM). I'll still take the BM camping, etc....but it just doesn't make sense to carry that kind of blade when I carry a fixed blade and a folder.

Now, if I were only going to take one knife with me, the BM or my ZT would be coming.

ETA: I forgot to mention that I have a history of losing knives rather than ditching them. The griptillian in question was the first pocket knife I ever had that got replaced for pocket time for any reason besides loss.

Well...here is the first knife I ever owned and I owned only this knife for 3 years. Bought it at an Army Reserve store when I was drunk haha. I have always wanted to purchase another just for the nostalgia but I haven't because this one still pops hairs AND locks up 100% tight despite the scales being broken. This knife is the reason I will never bash Smith and Wesson.

Here's my four year old 710. It has recently been replaced by a ZT 350sw and Spyderco Caly 3.

I used to go a year or two between buying knives, I've bought a lot more than that recently though. This photo is a progression of most of my EDC knives over a period of almost 40 years.

I've carried this CRKT Hawk Dog for about 8 years until just recently when it was replaced by a SOG Vulcan. As you can see I've used it for almost everything including as a hammer at times. It's still trucking though so I don't plan on ever getting rid of it.

Great topic. I don't have one for myself. I do have my grandfather's Schrade old timer that is ground down to a tooth pick from him sharpening it.

Here is my daily companion for the last 15 years -

First off, thank you all for showing off one of your best friends. I enjoy checking out the knives that show use. Most knives are the same because if you have seen one BM 710, you have seen them all. When you see a user, in a sence it becomes a one of a kind.

As for the photo above, this is a great picture to show the progression of your EDC's. This would be a great topic in itself.

BTW, I edc an AFCK just like yours before the 710 took it's place.

Thanks,
John

I think my 4 year old Vic Camper has been used at least once a day since I got it. Doesn't look much different from new besides scratches here and there. Wish I still had my old CS Voyager that was used most days for about 10 years.

BM Skirmish, purchased and modded in 06.

I'm gonna have to bump this thread just because I love seeing well used knives. Much more-so than the new ones I always see everywhere..

dear god what happened to that knife...

That pretty much describes CM's design philosophy - which is why I like his knives so much. In fact, maybe that should be his new motto.

I've said it before, but I envy you guys who can carry the same knife for months or years. I can stick with one woman for my entire life, but I can barely make it through one day with the same knife in my pocket.
