Show Us Your Camp Knives, Utility Knives, Scout Knives

I carried this the other day to a festival and a knife vendor told me it was rare. I will have to take them at their word as I am a newbie to trads. Either way it's nice to carry, although the spring could be a little stiffer.

Have a good evening!

This is my RA's camp knife. (RA's is -- or at least was when I was a kid -- like Southern Baptist Boy Scouts. I don't know if it's like that any more; I googled it and didn't see much outdoor Boy-Scout-type stuff, so I don't know. What I remember as a kid was lots of camping, outdoor activities, we had vests and earned patches, did a pinewood derby type deal called RA Racers every year… a lot of my best memories with my dad growing up.)

I've probably had this knife longer than any other I still possess. I don't know if it was my first knife, but certainly one of my first. I figure I've had it since I was 7 or 8. I broke the tip a little at some point, doing who knows what. I've almost got it sharpened out to where you can't tell. Not something I really carry very often, but I pull it out every now and then.

The stamp on the tang reads "COLONIAL PROV. U.S.A."

btb01, Interesting that your Colonial made knife has a Victorinox SAK style can opener, first time I have seen a company other than Victorinox with that can opener. Wonder if they paid royalties for using it? John

Interesting observation. I don't think I would have ever noticed that. Wish I had more info on the knife, but all I really know about it is how long I've had it (which is about 23 years).

I recently picked up a 5 blade ulster scout knife with white handles. I immediately put it on the edge pro and it is hair popping sharp! Been carting it the last few days.

I was just "Window Shopping" ("Browser Shopping"?) at that big knife store in Tennessee's web site, and under the "Just Arrived", I saw a KAMP KING scout/camp/utility knife made by Rough Ryder. (Rough Ryder tang stamps, "Kamp King" shield, black jigged bone covers. No ugly oversized "RR" on the (real) bolsters). Model number is RR1987, for those interested.
Looks like the name has been resurrected. :)

I think I might just have to get me one ... or three ... :)

EDIT:
Since the originals were made by Imperial and Hammer Brand, both owned by Taylor/BTI now, I don't know if Rough Ryder's parent company bought the brand, or are making it under contract, like they did the COLT branded knives.
