I'm sure some of you carry one knife every day. Others may choose whatever knife jumps out at you each morning. But who has a set weekly rotation? Give us a glimpse. I'll start ....

Monday: Buck 055

Tuesday: Case Swayback Jack CV

Wednesday: GEC Tidioute Calf Roper Slim

Thursday: Beer Scout or 2011 Forum knife (every Thursday I play Old Time music and need a bottle opener handy).

Friday: Old Timer 93OT Wrangler

Saturday and Sunday: Chris Reeve Small Sebenza Insingo (not pictured because it's not a traditional)

"Dress Knife": Case Peanut CV

Not sure I have a "reason" other than I, personally, am not comfortable owning a knife that just sits unused. I've been whittling down my collection over the previous year from 35 knives, and these are the last knives standing. Of course I have a reservation for a GEC 77 medium barlow, so we'll see how the rotation shifts. I just assumed I wasn't the only one that did this and wanted to see what others carry.

Nice looking knives! I can see where it would be a tough decision trying to pick what to carry out of that group. How do you like that Buck 55?
I've never come across one in person, looks like a nice size.

I have been very pleasantly surprised by the 55. It did not come from the seller particularly sharp, but it takes a very sharp edge, and for a lockback, the knife has nice walk and talk, and my blade is perfectly centered. I really love the iconic clip point on the Buck 110, 112, 55.

No rotation on this one - a sheepfoot #77 Medium Barlow. This one has been 24/7 for the past 7 months now. I have a couple others that rotate in the #2 spot, but this Barlow never budges.

The orange Vic Farmer is basically a part of my pants. It resides in a horizontal belt sheath and has proven indespensible.

I am a little different as I actually have sets of knives of similar patterns I rotate weekly. I also will generally carry multiple knives each day. I also have some other patterns that get carried for different reasons (mainly because I like them!). Here is this week's lot;

Jamie, do you prefer the Mako or the Ben Hogan? ... and if you do, why? Thanks !!!

Arizona,

Love the 77. I can't wait to get mine. For so long I assumed it would be too much knife until I recently saw a comparison with a TC Barlow. I think I'm really going to like it.

Either is an outstanding knife to be proud of. The difference in size is negligible - maybe 10% increase from the 15 to the 77? I have two TC Barlows and they're both among my most cherished.

You'll be very impressed with your 77, have no doubt!

Jim,

I prefer the Hogan over the Mako for a couple reasons;
1) more comfortable - the rounded rear bolster feels better in your palm while the front bolster adds a little security
2) smoothness - the Hogan being a lock back just results in a more fluid action. Locks up like a vault as well.

I have a problem carrying a new knife especially if its expensive. Recently ebayed a used queen slimline so I wouldnt feel so bad if i messed it up. My others sits in the box

Coming from my granddad's way of thinking I feel knives should be used all day, everyday. Hahaha. I understand why some may not want to utilize expensive knives but I have many expensive knives and they are built to perfection so it makes me want to use them even more. I alos have junkers that were cheap as chips that out perform some of the more expensive knives.

Thanks Jamie !!! I debated the merits of both, came to suspect the same conclusions pretty much. and chose a Tidioute Ben Hogan LB in Ebony that's in route. Should be here Tuesday :)

This is the current rotation, sometimes one stays in the pocket for a couple days though. I don't have a 'knife for each day of the week'

Precisely. At this point for my collection, that 48 GEC in stag is the jewel of the collection. And probably the most expensive knife I own if not top 5. It is definitely the top for my traditionals. The other things I have like the used single blade case trapper, and the used Queen slim I will have no problems using. They were bought used and will be used. So far this bent tip boker slim has been doing very nicely. I am hesitant about using that case slim trapper i bought 2 of by mistake. The queen coke bottle that came in will have to go back tho. They claimed it was new but it most certainly wasnt.

there are variations? double bolsters? I was stuck considering between a mako and a hogan

Tim,

I love the Texas Jack. That wharncliffe is a stunner, as well.
