Show Us Your Malla

Here's a barely passable web cam picture of mine. 18.5 inch 28 ounce Malla knife by Lachhu.

Yours is gorgeous. Lucky man to own such a blade.

.. wouldn't the deeper cho make the blade weaker? ..
Jack, logically the answer is a yes but still that particular part of the ricasso is thicker and wider than the rat tail tang of the Khuk!
And if the rat tail tang can survive the chopping abuse then I guess that particular part of the ricasso can pass it as well!

.. a great parang from O'katz. I really like the hammered finish he does. Is that a new one for you? ..
The same here!
Not a new one Phil, I got it for quite some time already!
IIRC I acquired it in 2013, the end of the year.

.. Here's another Malla, by Lachhu Kami, whom I believe apprenticed with Bura years ago. It's 20" OAL and 32.7oz ..
Thanks for the pict, specs and historical review of your Malla, David :)
Agree with you that it is pointier than most even the Chitlange, and Malla is a beauty

Here's one I owned, long since gone to Brazil.

None of the knives since compares to the original that Howard owned.

Hi Kamagong, thanks for showing your long gone Malla!
Nostalgic right?

BTW here is what I think the very 1st thread about Malla: The Kumar and old master khukuri -- the story continues. Konvention option #1.

Another thing to mention here is about the beautiful Malla belong to John T, I think it has a special cho which looks more like a comma or an apostrophe rather than the standard Malla cho which looks like the other way round of it

Thanks, mohd.
Another interesting feature of my Malla is that the spine is flat. my other HI kukri's have a "peaked" or or in a couple cases a curved spine. Is the flat spine standard for the model?

The Malla is a reproduction. Since the original had a flat spine all Mallas are made with them.
