Show us your oiled micarta!!!

I'mGatMan!, all I did to #27 BATACLE was sandpaper down the tops of the ridges on the grips and use mineral oil on them. Mineral oil will dry/evaporate over time, so you'll have to reapply occasionally, but it never goes rancid, and is non-toxic to humans, so any your hands will absorb won't hurt ya. It looked just like #23 before I started on it.

Obviously, the mineral oil does a better job of bringing out the colors than does CLP. Oh well, live and learn. So is it true that washing the knive with soap and water will take it back to stock so that I can try again with some mineral oil? And what's your method? Do you rub it in, or just wipe it on?

I slather it on and give it a little time to soak in as far as it'll go, then wipe off the extra. What's 'CLP'?

Breakfree CLP is a cleaner, lubricant and protector I use to "condition" and clean my guns. Works very well to keep metals nicely lubricated and healthy. Where I live, if your steel doesn't have a nice sheen, it'll begin rusting very quickly.

It should come off with soap & water... I'm guessing. Try using a toothbrush or other type of soft bristle brush to help the process of getting it off... Or just try the mineral oil on top of what's already there, since the mineral oil will wash out anyway should there be no difference.

Thanks. This is what I was looking for and couldn't find earlier. Maybe this should be stickied for all the Busse noobs and anyone who wants info on how to get their micarta to pop.

It's also a function of your camera settings. ALL of your pics have an iridescence about them, Jaxx. That's why I love them. (All of Jerry's pix of Tigerhide are very bright orange. Just a function of that camera at those settings. Never seen Tiger as orange as his. Even well oiled and properly lit.)

Ok... I must confess... I did NOT oil the handles on this BATAC... :D

THE ONE THAT PULLS IT OUT WILL BECOME A KING!:-)

I don't think so. After you wipe off the excess I bet you won't notice it.

I dont have any before photos anymore. Here are my ASH-1's oiled up though.

I might go ahead and clean the CLP off of both of my knives and apply mineral oil instead. Just picked up a bottle at Targer. : )

Anyone know the best way to clean 'em off?

Dood...you prolly don't wanna know this, but the way my system's been since chemo and radiation, I don't NEED mineral to be messed up...

Ill back that up. I left my satin GW in its sheath without oil for a couple weeks. pulled it out the other day and it had VERY light spotting on the spine and edge. Nothing major.. a little scrubbing took it right off. But I learned my lesson. ALWAYS OIL!!
