This is a large Ray Cover lockback folder I found years ago through a consignment dealer. Basically Buck 110 sized and fairly heavy. I'd also bought several smaller, more pocketable medium-sized versions of the same lockback pattern of his in various cover materials, including jigged bone and pearl. Even though this one is somewhat impractical for me to EDC regularly in the pocket, due to the size, I've always LOVED the wood on this one. I know he did some knives in spalted maple, sometimes stabilized and dyed to different colors - I have one of those in the smaller pattern. I think this one is also spalted maple, but I've never known for sure. At any rate, the natural color & figuring, and the feel of the wood in-hand, has always appealed to me. Took these pics just a couple days ago on a whim, once again drawn to the beauty of it.
