Show Us Your SOGs (Warning...Lots of Images!)

Here is my standard "Camp" setup, a SOG Government, HI 15" Ang Khola and Bancharo (HI 'Hawk).

Here is my SOG Government and Mini Pentagon and my HI Bancharo

The SOGs are well used, hold a great edge and do everything I ask of them. Sliced up food for Dutch oven and split kindling with the Government and cut rope, food and cut up (4" or smaller) Oak limps with the Mini Pentagon:D

Thanks for the help Ron.:)

Conclusion Date For Contest is April 21st

My goal was to keep the contest open long enough for a fair number of people to post pictures. Posting pictures for the contest will be available through the end of day on the 21st (BladeForums time; that would be US east coast time).

Voting is open to "peers." For this contest, "peers" will be those who have entered the contest by posting pictures. So far, I'm the only one disqualified from winning (that I'm aware of).

Here's voting criteria:
The picture must be stunning, moving, original, creative, not sick or lurid (sorry VG), and generally makes someone want to vote for it.
I'll take votes via email directly to me at ron@sogknives.com on Monday and Tuesday, April 22 & 23 (again BladeForums time). I'll announce the winner on April 24th. Only valid votes will be counted. For the vote to be considered, I need on the subject line "Contest Vote Ballot." I also need your BladeForums user name clearly stated in the email "ballot" along will the user name of the person's picture you are voting for. You may also make a statement on why you voted for it. I may use some of the statements. The winner will be notified via the email address they use in their BladeForums user profile, and will be announced here in this thread. The winner will need to provide me with a mailing address.

This thread will not be closed. Instead, it will stay open for others to continue to post their pictures. The contest portion will end on April 21st, but picture posting will continue.

That’s it for now.

I collect factory knives. My last two acquisitions were both SOGS and I must say that I am very impressed with the quality and design of these knives. I have the SOG Tsunami and the SOG Government Agent

Most of my knives are for utility purposes, but must also be able to serve as a backup weapon in time of crisis. The Tsunami was bought purely as a defensive weapon as this is quite clearly a fighting knife. I plan to have a kydex shoulder rig made soon by my good buddy Barry Gordon of the Sharp Edge shop in Johannesburg. The Government Agent has a very nice nylon sheath and serves me well as a camping knife, although it's nice to keep around the house for uninvited guests.

The last photo was taken for the heck of it, but one can se that the sight of the twin SOGs is bound to give a bad guy some serious second thoughts :)

Ron, thanks for the posting advice and th eopportunity to participate. I really wouldn't mind a second prize :D of a SOG golf shirt....

I have the large PE 2 with me most of the time. The small one is just as good. In the midle is a Veitnam 5th Special Forces Group Bowie, blued ser.#0014. Thanks I enjoy all of your pics. Chris

Paul’s ones are really very well done.
Welcome to the Forums, Paul! More Europeans here ;)!
I certainly should visit SOG Forum more frequently...
Here is my modest share in this nice gallery.

This Ends The Contest.

OK...This is it! The contest portion is over.

A general announcement to everyone: Please continue posting pictures! We LOVE seeing them!

Regarding Voting:
Here are the procedures relative to voting for our "Best Picture" contest (no, not for an Acadamy Award):
  • Votes will be sent directly to my email address (ron@sogknives.com) on Monday and Tuesday, April 22 & 23 (BladeForums time, which is east coast of the United States). I'll announce the winner here in this thread sometime on April 24th. Only valid votes will be counted (see next point). For the vote to be considered, I need on the subject line "Contest Vote Ballot." I also need your BladeForums user name clearly stated in the email "ballot" along will the user name of the person's picture you are voting for. You may also make a statement on why you voted for it.
  • Since voters will be from your peers, qualified voters can ONLY be those who have entered the contest by posting a picture.
  • Vote for anyone posting a picture from the start of the thread through the end of April 21st (midnight east coast, United States time). I’m exempt and cannot win, so don’t vote for me.
  • Most importantly, vote for the picture that is "stunning, moving, original, creative, not sick or lurid (sorry VG), and generally makes someone want to vote for it."
The Prize: I’ll talk with the winner of the contest to see what they want. I have a handful of knives from our "Seconds" (perfect, but with a scratch or two) that I can give (for example: JetEdge I, JetEdge II, Sogwinder II, Tomcat, SOG Gentleman, any assortment of tools, maybe a fixed blade or two, just to name a few), or I can work something out.

Good luck! :)

"We have a winner!"

...or should I say, "We have winners!" We had a split vote for first place between Bobby B and Sergiusz Mitin!

I'd like both Serg and Rob to drop me an email, giving a short list of knives (that would be "SOG's knives") that might interest you (not new products like the Flash). I'll work with you guys to get you something you'd really like. They may come from our "seconds" stock (with only a little scratch keeping it from "retail").

Thanks to everyone who contributed. I always love seeing pictures of our knives. Keep the pictures coming.

Ahhhhh...We need more pictures!...and I can provide some. :D

As some of you know, Balisongs have recently become a little passion for me. So here's some SOG/balisong combos.

Thumbnail: Recondo & Tachyon

Thumbnail: Night Vision & Tachyon

Thumbnail: SOG Mini Gentleman, Glock 27, Tachyon, and BM42

Thumbnail: SOG Recon Bowie, Tachyon, and BM42

That should be enough for now. Hope you enjoyed them!

wow, Ron! How did you make those pictures? I especially like the first one. Great!

To reference how all these pictures were taken, I placed these items (note "items," not a photo of these items) directly onto my scanner as home (an HP Scanjet 3400C) and scanned them as if I were putting my hand on a copy machine to make an photocopy of it. I then lay a background onto of the knives/guns. It comes out pretty well since I don't have a digital camera.

Very cool pictures guys...thanks... :)
