Here's mine in Northern Michigan.

I fantasize about having a cabin. I think some day I will. The boy and wife are not keen on the idea.

Thanks for the great responses..................... It's been a labor of love for sure! We work a little & play a little along the way. We mostly use it as a hunting cabin, but we do just go there to kick back sometimes too! Last season my Dad took his first Black Bear ever there. This past deer season we both harvested beautiful 8 point bucks within walking distance of the cabin. We also had a Bull & Cow Moose that were hanging around our property a couple of seasons back. We are starting to see Moose every year now. It truly feels like a sanctuary. I plan to go up there next weekend for the first time since May. I'll try to take a few more pictures and update my photo album.

Here is one I made in a class I took with a friend a few years ago. It was formed around the trunk of a downed tree. The entrance faced east for the rising sun. I used a ridge pole and rafters for the structure which you can kind of see in the second pic. I used leaves and tree bark for waterproofing and insulation on the outside. It was only a day class so I didn't get to sleep in it.

Here's mine from the other night, in-progress:

The final angle wasn't so steep and there were a lot more pine boughs but you get the idea. Quick, simple, tried and true.
