Not today, but definitely the last time I used a knife away from home.

I've mentioned several times over the past few years that at this point in my life I have almost no need for a knife outside the kitchen, but I still carry them, because they can unexpectedly come in handy.

This was a while ago, I just remembered that I still have the box.

I went to Walmart to buy a new thermometer (the one I had fell in the toilet). The thermometers were on a long hook, but unlike the previous time I bought one there was now an anti-shoplifting lock on the end of the hook. I looked around for an employee to unlock it, but good luck, no one in sight.

So first I tried to yank it free from the hook, no good, I almost brought down the entire display. Then I tried to tear it off, no good again, the space was too cramped for me to get both hands in and get a good grip, and the glossy cardboard was slippery and tough to tear.

So, after a quick look around, I pulled out my Ti-Lite 4 and just cut the box off the hook. Another one of life's little obstacles solved by a knife :).
