Ok. We all have great collections of hardcore gorgeous knives. We all ALSO have at least a few that were either impulse buys while walking around the gunshow, purchases before you knew what was "good" or gifts people gave you who don't have quite the same "taste" as you.
Out of these, I have actually used a couple as beaters. Most of this stuff was the result of me making the grave mistake of telling my friends and family that I'm a knife knut. Don't get me wrong. I love these people and I really appreciate them trying to get me something I'm into rather than just some thoughtless trinket. However, thanks to all of them, I have a huge collection of knives and swords that hide in various areas of my house, out of view of my friends who know their blades. I feel really awckward when one of the gifting people is all like "Are you carrying the knife I gave you? Where is it?" I say "I don't want to mess it up. so I don't carry it for daily use." Anyways. Here is my b-list collection! Where's yours.

One other thing. You gotta love your non knife freakbuddies who think to themselves "Hey...if he would like a knife, HE WOULD LOVE A SWORD!" lol
Enjoy.

I especially love this oh so shimmery tanto scabbard. The holographic stuff is traditional Japanese decoration.

I like that cord-wrapped knife with the weird blade offset. First time I ever saw a wave on a fixed blade; how does that work?

It cuts. It's a cool looking knife. Just not practical. I think the maker was aiming for something halfway between fantasy and tactical. It's Factical. lol

iirc that black wavy knife with the cord wrap handle is part of the black ronin series that was released by united cutlery a ways back.

nice collection btw, i like that kukri lookin one :D

would i be a snob if i said i didnt have any crappy knives??

i just dont see any point in owning anything crappy.

admittedly i have had crappy knives in the past but i thought they where great at the time.actually they werent that crappy, just not top shelf.cold steel,CRKT and stuff like that

Notice where the point is.

That looks like a hardware store special made by Coast. I have one of those as well. I think I paid $19 for mine. I was impressed with the little Rc hardness dimple that it came with. I think I was 17 when I bought it. :D

There are no crappy knives. Just good, better and best.:D

No crappy knives? Scroll back to the second picture from the top. That black thing right under the sword came apart while I was taking pictures of it. lol

He he - pipe cleaner pommel? It is designed to fit a guy's hand even when he breaks his wrist LOL

I have to say my crappiest, but most used knives are my Henkle kitchen knives. When I bought them, I thought It was fantastically crazy to spend $150 on 4 kitchen knives. I really want to replace them, but it has not been my priority yet... They do sharpen up pretty good. One day the block will be filled with Bark River kitchen set.

I have some cheap, but I think still good and functional knives that I wouldn't put in the crappy category: 1) buck diamond back, 2) buck 119 special and 3 or 4 Rapala fillet knives. They still get use.

That one was a well intentioned gift.
Does yours have a point that sticks out of the handle as well?

Can't forget the Highlander Sword :o

No it does not. I checked. Hell, I'll send it to you and you can make a good one out of the 2. How does that sound?:D

I think its called a quillion or something.
Designed for knife fighting so that you catch your opponents blade in the hook and yank it out of his hand.
Heard about it from the youtube knife reviewer "nutnfancy".

It is one thing to have someone who is into knives give you a knife. I have received some serious steel from people in the past. It is another matter when someone who has no idea, but hears you are "into knives" gives you a knife as a gift.

"I saw this in the Bud-K catalog and thought of you... you're into wilderness survival... right?"

It is nice to be thought of, that's for sure but...

Many years ago I came to the conclusion that I can't afford to buy crappy knives.

TwinBlade, How about I send you mine?
This way you'll have spare parts for yours :D

Worst group of knives was a set of "Kitchen" Knives that I got complimentary with an order from Omaha Steaks...

Second up...the Henckels set on the counter...they have seen alot of use but I wouldn't consider them very well made.

Back in the day I made some atrocious purchases as far as pocket knives...

a Buck 110 knock-off that had the lock fail the very first time I used it...

A CS Vaquero that was just HUGE and utterly impractical for EDC as I tried to use it...(that may have been a case of okay knife...bad owner/user...)

Everything else? I love them.
