Me & my better half with our younguns. She decided to get 'em dressed up & have their picture taken. She's holdin' daddy's girl (Hershey), & I'm holdin' momma's boy (Oliver). Both were saved before they headed to the pound. I'd kill for 'em!

I believe everyone should carry their own weight and dogs are no exception. Ranger is a working dog. As a pup, I soaked all his toys in deer blood. Deer blood=fun for both of us now. If it bleeds, he finds it. Other toys included whole frozen ducks and dove stuffed in a sock. He learned those scents very early on in life and loves to hunt to this day. When he retrieves something, he gets a bit of the raw meat and some beer as a reward. It's how we have fun!

When it's not hunting season we just bum around. He carries his own water, my beer and heavy knives. Great exercise for the dog. I've had guys ask me... "aren't you worried he'll run off with your beer and gear?" I tell them, 'hell no... I have the bottle opener!'. He wouldn't go far before he remembered he doesn't have fingers.

As a funny little side note, he also recovers deer bones... not sure how he knows the difference, but he won't mess with bones from other critters... only deer. Amazing noses on these critters.

Dogs are great...
