Correct Bob, almost sterile (no Carothers sigi) but only the D2 stamp (not enough room for the correct steel name which is PSF27). Apart from that D2 stamps, the bark effect in the flats is the identifier.

I've got 2 years of use with my HDFK now. D3V has been very tough and it has been easy as pie to bring back to laser sharp. It's always a pleasure, when I get to pull out my HDFK and use it!

Bump this one back up. This one has almost 3 years under my belt and what a wonderful 3 years it's been! The edge is thin, and the edge is strong, but damn is it sharp. It is truly an exceptional knife, not only from the visual aspect, but from the user aspect as well. Thanks again Nate and gang, for a phenomenal knife in every way!

It's probably my favorite fixed blade of all time, and I've tried a bunch. There are many in my top 5, but this one takes the cake.
