I put a working patina on my GEC #77 Barlow, mostly by using it daily for food prep. Here's how it looked when the patina was about half-formed (I love the tiny "scratches"!):

Here it is fully settled-in, after about 3-4 weeks of use (see how it's crept down to the tang?):

And here's a quick comparison to a stainless GEC #15, which I took because I started thinking that maybe the patina wasn't dramatically different:
