Show your Shatts ( and Morgan)

John W. Schatt and Charles B. Morgan both were working in the cutlery industry and just before the turn of the century decided to try the import business. Calling themselves New York Cutlery Co. that didn't last but maybe 2 years and they bought the old Case factory in 1896 in Gowanda N.Y. and S&M was born. They moved to Titusville in 1903 until Queen bought the factory and everything in it at a sheriff's auction in 1932 and remained in business until 2018.
Here are a couple of Gowanda stamped knives, all of which are already posted in the "Old Knives" thread.

Trivia !!

Most folks don't know that John Schatt was left handed. So in 1908 he patented a punch that would cut a hole while spinning in either direction. Most folks are right handed so the cutting edge was set for a clock-wise spin, which is unnatural for a left handed person. Pretty fart smeller, I mean smart feller!

Some real beauties here in this thread!

One of my last Schatts..... not the best one. Interior elk, looks great in photos, but the grind on the blade is very crooked, not to mention it could have been a solid 5/16" longer. Then there's the rough patch on the tang which makes the action a bit rough.

At least the shield is pinned and I love gunstocks! I miss Queen!
