A quick post from the Shreveport Hammer-In held this past weekend at Dan Graves shop. Spiral flute, damascus, forging, grinding techniques and tons of tips made this event a huge success. Thanks goes out to all the attendees and special thanks to those who shared their expertise and skills.;)

I knew yall were going to have a great time. I wish I could have been there but we had to make a fast trip to Georgia for a funeral. But I will be there next time.

Nice of you to host the first hammer-in in Shreveport and looking forward to next year. There was some nice folks as well as great talent there.

My thanks to all that came and shared there knowledge. Thanks also to Robert Parsons for making one of the best briskets I have ever had. Also to Bob Elrod for a great deer roast that all enjoyed. Bryan, Thanks for the wrought iron and to all for the tank of propane. Thanks Charley for the knife scales for EVERYONE! Rusty McDonald put on some excellent forging to shape blades (picked up some good tips there), Mike from Hammond had some great grinding false edge tips. I know I am forgetting some as I am having coffee now but grateful to all. Whats great about these is the new friends you make (besides the good tips) and also got me to clean my shop. Rusty forged a blade Saturday and ground out and heat treated it so it was ready for sanding Sunday. He did a great demo on hand sanding then all put thier name in a hat and congrats to Johnny for winning it. Thanks Rusty for that. Johnny finally has a nice knife (LOL). Johnny, we have to see it when completed. Got reports from Johnny that David Crawford took to grinding like a Duck to water. One to watch for in the future. All in all, a great success and Charley, wont be another year before I have another. I am thinking the next 6 to 8 weeks.

Dan,
I had a heck of a time. I look forward to next time. I am trying to figure out how to send those videos of you power grinding from my phone to my email. I dont have email on my phone lol. I will work on it tonight. All I ask is that you post the work you do with the wrought I gave you. Made a bunch of new friends. After Batson's this year and this hammer in, I have learned more than just piddling with it on my own. Thanks for hosting this event. It was awesome. I hope all will take my word that it is worth the 4 hour drive.
Thanks
Bryan
