Shrinking stag???

I've got a Barry Wood folder with dovetailed bolsters (both ends) and thin stag scales. The frame is made of copper-beryllium. One of the sides of the knife is slightly warped, due to the stag shrinking or drying out. When the knife is placed in a very moist environment (baggie with a damp sponge), it straights out in a day. The frame is made of copper-beryllium. After a day or two out of the moist envionment, it warps again.

Any clues to what's going on and more important, how to remedy it?

Thanks.

personally I would give it a one day soak in food grade mineral oil, the scales are drying out, the moisture from the sponge evaporates much too quickly.
Good Luck,
James

I did that after the damp sponge soak. Put it in another baggie and soaked it with mineral oil for 24 hours. It was fine when it came out. The two pictures at the bottom are about 12 hours after it came out of the oil.
