SHTF Fixed Blade Suggestions

Might be worth looking into Scrap Yard knives. Busse performance and warranty without the pricetag. Some of the big Battle Grade Busses are competively priced as well.

For $500 I would invest in a fan that would be able to withstand the onslaught of fecal matter.
Then use what ever is left on a ratmandu.

I'd add swamp rat knives as well. It's also a Busse brand with their excellent heat treatments and warranty.

Last I knew swamp rat was the only of the Busse brands that still had blades currently available for order online. The Busse and scrap yard sites didn't have anything available for order last I checked, but the exchange is a great option for finding out of production models. Beware of fakes on big auction sites....

Fehrman i can no longer find, and the scrapyard website has been down for awhile. Maybe Busse is consolidating or phasing them out completely?

Fehrman stopped making knives after selling the company recently. You should be able to find some of their blades second hand but you'll probably end up paying a bit more.

There was some discussion about the scrapyard site being down on the Busse subforum a few weeks or so ago. Nobody's really sure, but the best guess seemed to be that, since they aren't likely to have knives to sell on there until they catch up on the Operation Two Weeks backlog, keeping the sales site going is a lesser priority. Toward the end of that thread somebody said the site was back up again, but apparently it's down now.
