52 dead and hundreds injured, hope that all of our fellow forumites made it through the night safely. I was woken up last night by the highwinds, some of which were violent enough to shake the entire house! Not sure if any tornadoes touched down in or around Wayne or Cabell counties but the conditions were definately right.

WV,

Thanks for posting this - I was planning on it myself. Roll-call for our forumites in the South! Please check in and let us know if you're okay, if you need anything, if there's something we can do.

Excellent post! me and mine would like all that felt the wrath of those storms to know that you all are in our prayers.

Prayers and well wishes sent out.

ripped the metal off my garage and tore up a lot of houses. but everyone i know made it out.

Saw it on the news here in Australia, glad to see you guys made it through alright.

We have an Ops center there, and our team members said they saw the tornado hit the power substation down the road, and headed inside waiting for it to hit.

It JUMPED over our center, then went on to hit the mall and Sears store.

It did NO damage to our center, not one branch bent or broke.

Mature is amazing sometimes.

Hope all BF'er and their families and lived ones are safe and sound.

It was pretty shakey for a while. Tornadoes were spotted 30 miles South of me, 12 miles West, 40 miles West and to the North. Watching the coverage on TV, there were circular events right over the houses of both of my daughters at the same time. a few miles away. Neither touched down. I am at approximately 35.58N -88.1W in SW Tennessee.

We made it fine at my home however a friend of the family lost his daughter, son-in-law and young grandson. They were all in bed when it hit around 3:00 am.

My God! My sincere condolences to the loss of your friend’s family; that is truly a tragic loss. Our prayers go out to those that suffered both loss of family and damage to property. I hope the communities come together to help out those in need.

That brings up a good point, how many of us would have been prepared for a situation like that? BOB's ready to go? PSK's on hand? Not me...

No amount of survival training or gear can prepare someone for that kind of loss. So sorry to hear.

They were friends of my uncle.I didn't really know them but it was a terrible thing to hear.Thank you all for your condolences and prayers. There were many folks devistated by these storms. My prayers also to everyone that has suffered loss.

Everyone needs a weather radio with an alarm and a plan of a safe place at any time of the day or night. It doesn't pay to assume you won't be affected.

Working in Blytheville, Ark and safe. We seen one and thank God it didn't hit the plant. Had all the employees in the lockeroom. Many employees had came from Memphis and luckily their families made it through it. They made fun of the flashlights I passed out until the lights went out and the doors blew open from wind.
