The electric goes off and the end of life as we know it has begun. What now? What are your first steps? Do you have a family plan? Dec 21 is right around the corner! :)

I've been sitting in this bunker since Y2K, is it over yet? :D

I turned on the TV briefly the other night and saw Clinton giving a speech, I guess he's still President. :D

Which means it ain't over yet.

Crack open the vodka, tell my dog to give that cat down the road its Harry Potter book back because that's never gonna work, and give him a go on the unicorn with the tight agenda.

Hmmmm. my wifes work is only 1 mile away- she is from the Philippines so she is accustomed to dealing with natural disasters and interruption of all services. So I will walk over(since the EMP fried the Trailblazers brain) and we will sit and laugh.

Bill

I am going to be running the "End of the World" Marathon in Humble Texas, so will have to drive back home and start my own 'Tera Nova'.

Doc

All food in my local small grocery store a block away are mine. I have a plan. And I am not afraid to use it. Just have to figure out how many trips it will take in my '63 Ford. Like the Scarecrow in OZ, it doesn't have a brain.

Use my tools at work to safely egress (flashlight, prybar (if necessary), dust masks, rubber door stops), walk to my truck, grab my GHB (Maxpedition Condor) and start walking home. That's if I'm at work. If I'm working from home, I walk downstairs, get a beer, and see what happens.

BTW, the Mayans have already debunked the 2012 end of world scenario based on their calendar, if that's what you are referring to.

Go home and get wasted.
Sober up and read.
Wait till all the fools who ran out with their B.O.B. die, then go resupply from their stuff.;)

If the electricity does not return, most people likely will be hunted and exterminated.

I only asked because we have 2 die hard "end of the world" guys at work. They talk this stuff all day!! I just laugh. They compare notes and what they put in the B.O.B.! I just want their ammo and MRE's.
The one guy just bought 500 rounds of Hornady Zombie ammo for his AR15. I guess if you have the extra cash just layin' around.....

You can experience it (sort of). Just read "One Second After" by William Forstchen and you can figure out what you need. ...everything....

i guess working at a sporting goods store will finally pay off! i'd grab a 223, ammo, tent, pack, sleeping bag, and some misc gear and head home to hunker down.

Electricity is out at work? Ohnoes!! That's what the flashlight in my bag is for. :D I'll go outside and wait to see if it comes back on. If not, eventually we will be going home. If the car won't start (EMP, I guess), then I'll walk.

Daughter is at the high school or at home already, and it's only a few blocks away anyway. Son's on the way home, so I'll pick him up on the way, whether I'm driving or walking. Wife is at the college near the high school, so I'll meet her at home, too.

Electricity out in my town = not a big deal, unless it's hot out. Then, we sweat. If it's winter and extra cold, that only lasts a couple of weeks most winters. Make a fire and sleep all in the same room.

If I were at work, the generators would take care of that.

Afterwards, I would go home and snipe zombies.

Well, that kind of stuff happens all the time here. Not end of the world stuff but still quite a few SHTF moments. Like yesterday for instance........
