SHTF- you are at work and........

Plus I don't see the point in trying to "survive" when 90% of the population are gone and everything is in ruins.

So 90% less noise, 90% less traffic and congestion, 90% fewer crowds at the National Parks, 90% less water pollution, 90% cleaner air...

I'm having trouble seeing a downside.

Dentists? There are about 141,000 dentists in the US. Assuming dentists die off at the same rate as everyone else in an apocalypse-type scenario, there would be the exact same doctor-patient ratio after as before.

How many power plants would we need, with only 10% of us remaining? Seems we could run the whole place on just two or three. In Stephen King's book, The Stand, the few survivors had plenty of power from a single hydro plant.

lol thats true.. but he did state that it was an alternate reality, not quite like our own. I think it was done on purpose. He also wrote a story where a man finds himself in a world where the confederacy won the war.

He is a great writer . I just don't see him being comfortable with tools from reading his stuff . I've been told at work if they really need me, they will send something out to get me there. My work I.D. clears me to get to or from work in a level 3 weather emergency

But 130,000 suck

it is not about how much we need but who is going to run it

You imply there are only 2000 guys in the US who know enough to operate a power plant (I suspect there are many more). Still, don't you think we could get by with a mere 200 of them?

Let's just hope the sucky dentists get eaten by zombies first. Otherwise we may have to survive the armageddon with mediocre dental care. :D
