Shun warranty problems

I would contact Shun directly for a definite answer. Personally, I have found that many manufacturers will honor their previous warranties prior to their changing the terms. As far as refunding all or part of the purchase price, I would not get your hopes up!

I can understand a bad taste resulting from a company not wanting to honor their warranty. However, this is not necessarily the case here until you have verified it with that actual company. What is posted on a website or advertised is not always the final determination. Many times, a company is interested in overall cost control, but will make exceptions.

She'd have to pay to ship it anyway. The additional cost for sharpening isn't that much, I don't see why that would deter her.

But if OP has never used this service and doesn't need it, what does it matter? You've lost no money, and you even suggest that Shun should give you a full refund? They're a business; they're not here to give knives away. And as a side note, who cares about Lifesharp? Benchmade doesn't do a very good factory edge.

The phrase, "Its the principle of the matter" comes to mind, the 6 bucks or so to sharpen her knife may as well be 600 if it was something she originally expected to be free. Its a certain mentality, but some that is quite present among the general population.

Good point on Benchmade's LS though, personally I had high hopes for Shun as their factory sharpness is phenomenal! I hope the OP gets his sorted out, I know that ours will probably be sent out to one of the forum members to get a mirror edge put on might as well keep the money in the extended knife fanatic family.

Seems most of youjust want to make false assumptions and justifications. It almost feels like your getting free knives...

Also tsujigirl, stop thinking you know everything. I just want what I paid for, whether I need it or not. I have tens of thousands of dollars in kitchen and pocket knives as well as many fillet knives. They all are tree topping sharp and I don't need a $300 weps system or equivalent or powered sharpening gear. Your assumptions are mere foolish childish actions.

Jameson,

In the future, try to keep on topic, and please stop with the conspiracy theories. Also your last post is just going to bring heat. No one needs that here on BF's.

As mentioned prior, call the Shun folks direct, and hopefully you can work it all out.

We're done here all.
