I dont know if this is allowed or not, but Ill try it anyway.

From July 23 to August 11 I will be in America. (My first trip back home in three years)
While I am there I am going to be available for seminars in Meifu Shinkage Ryu shurikenjutsu. (I am the first and only ranked gaijin in this school and the only guy in America, but that's not bragging - Im just trying to illustrate that there arent many chances to get this kind of training)
If anyone is interested, send me an email soon.
(I am also a 7th dan in the Bujinkan but I do not teach that stuff to the public.)

I have never done a seminar before, but I'll give you all I've got.

er...i'm thinking about kendo lessons....primary lesson...

DIJ....can you please explain more in detail ?

Spam...except that it's Danny and more a chance to meet and visit than anything else.

I hearby decree a bend in the rules.

Danny...you going to be anywhere near Southern Ohio?

Where are you going to be and when will you be in each place if multiple locations?

Well, right now I have one seminar planned in San Jose, CA.
The rest of the time I will be in Dallas and Ill have to catch a plane or drive up if anybody puts together a seminar.
Im pretty flexible so we just gotta get started on the details.
The MSR is a school that pretty much only does one thing: throw single-pointed shuriken from any distance.

Its also a lot of fun...

It's too bad that you're not hitting Seattle, Danny. TX is a bit far for me to make a weekend drive. ;)

For those who have not seen Danny in action with shuriken, it is impressive. I'm not using that term lightly here.

Danny, I'm an hour from San Jose, outside the commute time blocks anyway. I would love to meet you and have you buy me lunch. :D

Please keep me in mind and we can coordinate when the dates get closer.

Norm

Thank You Dave. Undeserved, but thanks..
Svashtar, I dont know the exact time and date yet for San Jose, but I will know sometime in the next two weeks think.
At that time, Ill update this thread...
I hope I can meet as many of you as I can. (one way or another)

Hi Danny,

I'm about two hours from San Jose and should be able to make it(esp. if it's a Tue. or Wed event). I'm sure I could get the martial arts supply store here in Sacramento to host a seminar if he had enough notice. Either way, I look forward to meeting you.

Ted,
Why dont you talk to the store guy, maybe we can have one big one instead of several small ones in CA.
Sounds like it might be worth doing. Email me if he says he wants to try it ok?

Danny,
He's very interested in a seminar. I'll get you his contact info Monday.

I got yours. Antoine hadn't got it when I talked to him at 1pm. He is starting a sign up list to gauge interest. I gave him you email addy. Hopefully he will contact you today

What are we talking here? Sharpened metal frisbies? Circular saw blades??? Something that much fun certainly must be against somebody's carry concealed laws....or do we carry them in plain view, hung around the neck??

Sounds like terrific fun....Is it legal???

Shurikenjutsu is the art of throwing both the bo shuriken ( a spike-type implement) and the shaken ( a star-shaped implement)
I'm sure it's illegal to even discuss them in California, but different states and different countries have different laws. In Japan, shuriken are considered sporting goods and you can carry them in your pocket.
Most states have some kind of law about shuriken (the shaken- star type) but very few have any laws about the spike type.
Seeing that we are all martial artists and we will be conducting a seminar of martial arts in a controlled setting with no minors present, I dont see any problems.
In fact, quite a few of our members ARE LEO and some are FBI.
One of the best things about shurikenjutsu is that, once you learn it, ANYTHING can be used as a shuriken. Dinner plates, ball point pens, etc...

Okay...everyone from someplace where this is illegal, move. Can't move? Stop reading. I want to see this stuff.

You mean that time I brained a guy with an ashtray....THAT was shuriken-jutsu?? Nothing else was handy or quick enough, and I assure you that although a sworn LEO at the time, I did not consider myself a martial artist....just a survivor. Twentyeight years later, when I retired in one piece, no one was more suprised than I. Eight that I know of out of my class of 42 made it to retirement. And the first thing new students in my classes at high school ask is "How many guys did you kill?" I AM a survivor, and very thankful to be here.

I have an "in" with a local martial arts outfit and am sure I could get you scheduled. I'm about 6 hours from Dallas and would be happy to put you up...or down, rather...on an air mattress on the floor. :D :p

There are probably several others that might consider coming to NW AR for a meet-n-greet.

Just let me know.
