Side-by-side of CQC-7A vs CQC-10?

^^ Nothing wrong with that OM! I'm not a chisel blade guy though I have owned a few and still do own a HD7.

I find the grip of the 10 to be more like the Roadhouse than the Commander. If you like the commander grip the Journeyman may be more to your liking. I always hate throwing another knife into the mix but this one is quite similar in blade shape to the other two with a more Commander like handle.

Thanks for chiming-in Steely Dorn - I mean that genuinely. It is always nice to consider other ideas and I LOVE the way the Journeyman looks. My only "but" is the size that 4 inch blade just sneaks it over what I see myself carrying day-to-day. Who knows maybe one day...

Cheers,

Ben

Okay team,

I figured you should be the first to know...

...I pulled the trigger on this one;

I won't be back Stateside for a month but at least I'll have an extra treat to head back to!!!

Thanks again to everyone for sharing your thoughts and experiences...

Ever try a socfk? Specwar handle is very ergonomic. I prefer the waveless specwars though as the blade profile is more akin to a 6.

What I don't like on the 7 (besides the lack of fingerguard/choil) is the rounded lower profile, which the socfk also has. Same with the CQC-11, and the Patriot (especially this one, that's why I sold mine).

Excellent choice Ben! Actually thinking about a getting a 2nd CQC-7AW to keep in my backpack.

Watertower, Lycosa & rayster357 - thanks Guys!

Is now the right time to admit that I've been properly bitten by the Emerson bug? I still keep looking at the 10 and I'm also really digging the 7V!!!

Gotta slow down here...

;)

Thanks again for all the input (and enabling!),

Ben

That's the one I would have chosen. The 7A is a sweet blade and I don't think you will be disappointed. Just FYI the Journeyman blade is right at 3.6 inches. I have seen conflicting info on that one but both of mine measure at 3.6, same as the 10 but with a longer handle.

I've been wondering about the patriot. At first it looked like an instant classic for me and ergonomic as all heck, but I've heard a few people say it wasn't the most comfortable. Starting to lean more on the vindicator side

You guys are bad (read 'Good'!),

Also on it's way to me too...

...I just couldn't stop looking at the pics/videos of this guy and figure that it is my sweet-spot for EDC size right now and I saw a few of them out of stock so I snagged one. Couldn't help myself. I've never been a tanto guy at all, never spoke to me but the more I look at the 7V the more I like it. Think it'll slot right into the rotation alongside my others!!! :)

Thanks team!

Ben

Ha! Great choices Ben. Like you - I wasn't a tanto guy.....meaning I never owned one nor did I have the desire to.

But I was wrong wrong about it. There is just sooo much you can use that tip for. The7 to me is The Perfect Utility Knife and it's not even close. Having said that, the thrill is to think that there MAY be another Emerson out there that I love like my 7's. Time will tell.

Absolutely no comparison whatsoever for me, I don't like the 7 grip, I LOVELOVELOVE the 10 grip.

I find the 7 grip to be "usable" and not outstanding. However, the Super 7 is about as ergonomic as a brick. That handle just doesn't work when scaled up.
