Side Chipping need experts to chime in

Package just came. Brand new knife.
I got a typed letter. Also a big color cataloge with some DVDs in it?
Not sure if this was for me or a stock answer anyone gets.

More or less : 1 in a million issue. This never happens. VERY acute angle.Seems some parts of edge over-heated.
They asked if I re-sharpned it ever BTW if that matters.I had told them no.They assumed as much but wanted to ask.
Angle on this new one is WAY less acute. I am no expert, looks 20DEG/side-ish

The old one on the shoulder area, that chipped....had more of a bumpy almost corduroy pants look to it. Not sure what people here call that.
The new one looks normal.

I should have snapped a few pics.
lesson learned.

At the end of the day I am not unhappy. Not knowing much about CS as a brand, I will chalk this one up to a 1 in a million freak event.
Dealing with them was semi easy.I guess I would buy a CS knife if I liked it.
No hard feelings.

** some will think this is a joke or troll but infact it is 100% legit:
Popped in the CDs/DVD while typing this:
It is a bunch of guys running/jumping all over, throwing, karate style (ish) slicing/chopping various pigs/cows,tubes,gym rope and what looks like ballistic dummies and other stuffs.
TO be nice: interesting product demos and usage.

Strangely, I want to watch it all now.
Dude just put a tiny boot type knife into a pig that was crucified.Into its brain.
Not sure if I should laugh, tell my friends, keep watching or be shocked.
Yall need to see this.

Sure did

What they actually asked was did I sharpen it before first use.
Seems it is normal/common for guys to sharpen a brand new knife.

In an email they told me a "small" number of this knife had similar problem. They seemed to know right away what I was talking about.

I would like to know as well, if you convexed it on a work sharp they would be able to see that clearly. If I am not mistaken they come with V edges?
So I am confused. Did you sharpen it like you said?

I just convexed it with my WS machine. 80-220-6000. Now its a mirror.Like chrome.
Will see if it happens again
Can post back if any care.

Oh okay. Just a mistake in the last quote. They only asked if you sharpened it before first use.
