Sig Gsr 1911

FOB, buy a new connecter (I believe that is the proper term). They make 3.5#, 5.5# (factory std), and up. I put the 3.5# one in my 21 and 19 and they make for some sweet shooting. I have tried them all up to and including the "new york" trigger (very heavy and mushy, save your money). These are easy to replace yourself and cost around 10 bucks.

I must be lucky with my Baer Thunder Ranch. I haven't had many goofs with it and it has several thousand rounds throught it. It would have more had I more time lately. If your firearm has very tight tolerances, it will probably always be more prone to malfunctions and jams than it's looser cousin. Dirt has a tendancy to bind those tight guns up while it just rolls around in the loose ones. I bought a SA XD 45 recently and so far I am very pleased with it, as pleased as 100 rounds will let me be. I need to get the press rlling and crank out some rounds for fun.

"Custom hand crafted guns suck. The parts are too tight and cause failures. "

Not exactly, but improper fitting of any parts can cause problems. About the only parts you could have "too tight" would be frame-to-slide and maybe a link.............

"I've got a custom Baer I paid 2k for that sits in my safe. It sucks. Jams up all the time."

Baers aren't really customs, more like a semi-custom. A LB usually jams because the good folks there sometimes install a way too long link which makes lots of folks think that their guns lock up like a vault, when in reality it just causes lots of failures and shortened frame/slide life. Slide-to-frame fit is pretty snug, but should have loosened up considerably with 10k rounds through it.

What kind of competition are you speaking of? I have only seen one (1) Les Baer in 10 years of IPSC shooting. And, 10k rounds isn't very much for IPSC folks...........

Sorry you're having problems with your LB. What did they say when you called them and complained? Knowing their great customer service, they probably told you to pound sand..............

I have at least one issue with every auto firearm I have ever owned with the exception of a ruger mkI .22.

How about one..or 2 of these?!

My agency carries a .40 Sig 226. We are transitioning to the .40 Sig 226DAK and have had minor issues. Sig just swapped out close to 500 USA made trigger bars that had potential to fail for German trigger bars. They swapped them out no questions asked and were really good about it, but thats from a 3000 gun deal. I have had excellent luck with my original 226 never jamming a round. In my new issued DAK I jammed 1 round while firing 250. I know it's not a 1911, I just figured I'd give insight. Sig does make a pisser product. I really thought I'd hate the double action only, but truth be told, once you get used to it, it fires very well consistently!

I've owned a bunch of 1911's. I competed with a number of different ones in our local practical pistol club comps, and the only one I never had fail me was one of the cheapest one I own. It's a Springfield Arms Trophy Match. It's not cheap at $800, but compared to a Baer or other customs, its the only one I'd rely on. I've put 10k+ lead rounds thru my S.A. and I think it only gets better. SA's Trophy Match is made for match shooting with great upgrades like match sights, trigger, and barrel, but is still a factory (not custom) pistol. I think what sets it apart is that you get all kinds of custom features for a factory price. Custom hand crafted guns suck. The parts are too tight and cause failures. That's right, I said it. I've got a custom Baer I paid 2k for that sits in my safe. It sucks. Jams up all the time. With 10k rounds thu my 1911, I think I have the right to an opinion about them. I've competed with Glocks of all cal., Sig 9mms, and HK & 1911 .45's. Had the highest scores and the most reliability with my Trophy Match. My local buddies laugh at me as they pull out their customs while I polish up my cheapo factory. I laugh at them when their hand tooled tight-ass fitted custom jams while the competition clock is running. :D

I own a Trophy Match and I agree, its one of the sweetest, most reliable 1911's I own, I like my Kimbers more for feel but the SA has not let me down yet.
