*HELP NEEDED*
I just bought a P365 with a born date of May 2018.
There have been countless issues with this gun that I didn’t know about until l purchased. What I read was nothing but praises.
I have NOT been to the range yet but will be going shortly.
I don’t like to carry anything I haven’t tested first but this is my only gun I can conceal easily and want to carry ASAP

Do I have anything to be concerned with???

Chris

I would test it as soon as possible regardless of what handgun it is. However if its its your only pistol you don't have anything to lose by carrying it day one. Again that doesn't mean you shouldn't test it soon.
I've known several that have had problems and several that have had zero issues- so far.

My goal regardless of how it works out would be to get a second handgun for carry whenever you can afford it. Always good to have a backup plan. Maybe a Jframe, Ruger LC9S Pro (EC9S), Glock43 or 26, S&W Shield, XDs, or something you're comfortable with.

Probably not. Go shoot it and make sure.

I sure hope I don’t end up regretting this purchase.

Well don't regret it until it gives you reason to!

Shoot it some and carry it. If it gives you any trouble send it in. Then decide if you can trust it or not based on how you feel then. Eirher test it some more or sell it at that point.

I love the pistol in theory. I've not owned or shot one but handled a few. I thought I wouldn't lime it but it feels so good in hand, points very naturally, has nice features, and carries really small, especially for a double stack. He shoots a lot and never had a problem with it.
I would own one but the talk has scared me for a while so I have held off. The people that I know personally that have them have had zero issues, so its just caution on my part or it would be right in front of me now. If I already owned it when I heard about the problem I wouldn't sell it or start regretting it until I tried it out.

Next time you get ready to buy do some more research on "problems/issues with _______", and take a lot of them with a grain of salt....unless something is glaringly obvious. The 365 isn't the only gun out there that had 'teething issues' when it hit the market.

Call Sig tomorrow and ask them if they think the bugs are worked out by its birth date or if you should send it in. Regardless of what they say....go shoot it.

And start saving for a second gun as a backup regardless. ;)

Bookmark this thread and let us know how it all works out either way.

I have two that have been flawless, but both have 2019 birthdates. Keep it clean, don’t run it completely dry, and it should be fine. Carry it daily and shoot it as much as possible. Sig has excellent customer service if you have issues. Good luck.

IMO, take it to the range and put 300-500 rounds of ammo through it (even if that's spread over a couple of ranges sessions). Note any issues, such as whether certain brands of ammo have more incidence of failure, POA vs POI, etc.

Harry's Holsters has a video that suggests that a small batch of P365's had bad steel on their strikers (I would assume that the bad steel strikers would fail relatively quickly with the break in shooting). MAC has a couple video's that suggested issues with some P365's where the magazine would show wear from the trigger bar reset spring scraping it, which could cause a failure of the reset spring (dead trigger). There is a picture of this in his 2nd P365 video. He did not notice this issue on his second P365. I don't know if either of these guys are correct, but this may give you something to look for during your break in shooting to help decide if this might be one of the problematic P365's or not. MAC also noted an issue with extraction on his second P365. I think most of these issues can be fixed by sending it back to the factory if they appear on your gun.

On the flip side, some reviewers show range guns (P365's) with thousands of round through them with no problems.

Any brand can have issues. Sig is a good company. Shoot it and see what happens.

What are the "countless issues" you have with a gun you haven't fired?

Is it a used gun?

Chill! No matter what you read you should always run at least a couple hundred rounds through a carry gun for many reasons - to get comfortable with it, learn to shoot and handle it well, break it in, and, of course, check it's reliability, particularly with the ammo you plan to use. Your P365 is like any other pistol - you never know until you shoot it!

As has been said, Sig is a good company, so chances are your gun is fine and if it isn't Sig will make it so. Just so happens that I've been doing my homework on these, and I will be picking one up soon to be my carry gun, so as far as I'm concerned, good choice!

I have an April 2018 P365. With 900+ rds through it it has been flawless.

Use some of the provided lube , shoot good ammo and it should be fine. Any issues; is it only with one magazine? Was I using a loose gip with a limp wrist? Am I running it too dry?

SIG makes carry and practice ammo loaded specifically for the 365. I tried three boxes and even BARELY gripping the gun, limp wristing it...couldn't get it to malfunction.

IF You have issues SIG is quite responsive. I don't think You will though.

  • First, what are you worried about?
  • Have you shot this pistol yet to validate your fears that you bought a "lemon"?
  • Have you called Sig customer service to see if there are any recalls on your specific pistol that have not been done?

If I had to shoot certain ammo through it that'd be enough for me to sell it.

Yes there were some issues brought up when it was released but I believe they were addressed ...

but honestly any gun you buy to carry or use as a self defense good best thing to do is go shoot it ... then shoot it some more ...

then try a few different SD loads and find what it shoots well ... and run at least 500 rounds of your choice of ammo through it ... if you can do that without any issues ... then you can say it's reliable.

I didn't state one HAD to shoot SIG ammo. Simply stated that SIG makes ammo SPECIFICALLY for the 365. Most likely loaded specifically for the short barrel. Possibly a powder with less flash and capable of burning efficiently in the short tube?

Yes, I was just saying. Kinda a side comment I guess.

The Indiana State Police just took up the 365 as their backup duty weapon according to anmoland.

I run factory, reloads both week/strong loads to include mix magazines to test function and even in worse case mixed ammo loaded magazines still zero issues
