Does anyone have any experience with this. Also looking at the tacops 226 9mm. How's it feel in the hand? How's the trigger? I have medium to large hands I guess. Any other recommendations. I own a glock 17 gen 4-9mm, shot a cz 75 sp01 9mm the other day. It was ok. Just want it for comfort around the house and lots of target shooting. Won't be open carrying or conceal carrying. Want to stay with 9 mm.
Was looking to try a hammer fired instead of striker fire. D/A
Any other recomendations, thoughts and coments greatly appreciated.

i have the plain jane P226 my buddy has the navy...there is no real difference shooting down range. it has a cool anchor and the "barcode" is really just a plastic sticker, the coated internals would be useful if i were to do a HALO jump into the pacific, swim 1 mile to shore and crawl through the sand to go to the range. if you find it for a good price pick it up if not youre not missing anything

btw it feels great in the hands, i find that it fits very well in the palms of my hands much better than glock, it also has a decent amount of weight to it which i like , def not gonna be comfy for CC

If you want a good D/A 9mm track down a Walther PPX. It's got a pretty good trigger and you can usually find them fairly cheap. Only drawback is they kinda resemble a Hi-Point.

You could try and find a SAR B6P. It's an HK clone I believe. Supposed to be a pretty good firearm but I have zero experience with it.

The Sig P226 is an excellent firearm. They are on the larger side of the spectrum, but great guns. They are known for their reliability and most would consider them very accurate for the class of handgun they fall in. I don't own any Sigs but I've shot a few and there was never anything that I didn't like. To me they seem too big for concealed carry, but as you said you aren't worried about that.

I would go and hold one in a shop, if you like the way it feels there shouldn't be anything stopping you

I have the Navy 226. It is basically the exact same as a standard 226. Just supposed to have corrosion resistant internals, looks similar to standard ones to me. Also comes with three 15 round magazines. Great low recoil firearm. A pleasure to shoot.

I have a dark earth Sig 226 Navy. It is an excellent firearm and utterly reliable. I find the single action trigger pull to be light and Sig states it's 4.4lbs. The Sig Navy does not come with the SRT trigger system. Accuracy is top notch and she is a smooth shooter. While I am a Glock guy, I really like this pistol and would purchase it again.

I recently picked up an Hk Vp9 and its impressed me. The Hk P30, if you want a handgun with a hammer, would be an excellent choice. The P30 With the Lem trigger system is on my list of future purchases.

Thanks for all your responses. I have looked at the hk p30 looks nice, also looking at the CZ P 07. I did handle a hk at gander mountain, not sure which model, but it fit like a glove in my hand.

HK LEM trigger or Sig DAK is where it's at for a premium pistol for me.

I own an older P226 and really like it but, the new generation P226 DAK 40S&W is better IMHO. The HK P30 DAK 40S&W is pretty darn good too.

I ended up buying the H&K vp9! Felt better in my hand than any other gun. Supposivley has a great trigger. I'll know more tomorow, I may or may not be able to shoot at the range (hernia surgery)But I know my girl will want to shoot off at least a hundred rounds or more.

I have to see if the guys at the range can get my rear sights off my glock 17. They work on guns for a small fee. I need a vice to put the slide in, and put the trudot meprolights in. The front were no problem. The back I need the right tools.
Thanks for all the help.👍

I have the P226 tacops in 40 cal. The SRT trigger works well. This piece is nearly indestructible.

Nice choice! I love mine. It relegated my P320 to nightstand duty.

Gander mountain had cz 07 on sale $499 with a rail light. That was very nice also.

I really really really wanted a Sig 226 Navy - then I shot it. It's a long trigger, i'd definitely go for an extreme or tacops or some variant with teh SRT trigger pre-installed. If you want the coated internals I guess you could always send it off for the SRT (100 bucks I think).

Yeh pistol permit, took 4 days. But in raleigh this is changing to no permit necessary. I live just outside raleigh but maybe we will follow suit

Cz 75, sig 226, s&w 5906, fn hp-da

All good, solid, metal DA/SA guns with manual de-cockers.

As always it's the shooter that does the work and the person down range won't know the difference.

Congrats on the VP9

Thanks guys. I put 400 rounds through the vp9 today. Really nice shooter. My girl loves it to. Got my glock fixed but couldn't use it cause we had to lock tight the trudot meprolight sights in. I was shooting a woman at the ranges 45 cal 1911. That was really nice also. She lives in farm area said me and my girl could come over and shoot my Ar 15 and she has a AK. It's hard to find places around here to shoot them.

The recoil is a bit much for Susie she has arthritis in her hands and wrist. So I'm thinking of getting a 22 for us to shoot. Haven't look at much yet just the sig mosquito. All and all a great day. Feeling better from the hernia surgery Friday, going back to work tomorrow. I got 2 helpers and I won't push it.
Thank👍
