Looking to buy a gun, and have really had my eye on a Sig Sauer. Maybe a p220, but i'm not real picky. Mostly I just want to a void .9mm.

Does anyone know where in Portland/beaverton, OR, that I could find a great price? Money is pretty tight, and I don't mind if it's used..

Thanks alot!

Ken's up in Gresham He's got everything and will give you a good price (maybe not THE best, but very close and he's respectible,)

Sigs are the best I own 226's and 229's in 40 s&w and 357 sig. great guns . Better than all the other 50 handguns I own.

If moneys tight, sig isnt going to help your situation much. some of the more inexpensive guns out there you could try out, would be cz, ruger or taurus, among others.
Ive seen a decent amount of gun shops, try to sell some pretty used guns for next to new prices, just because those brands were in vogue at the time. this is especially rampant now, because of the war. If you see a picture of a civilian security contractor, with his little high speed vest, khaki pants on, and whatever brand pistol in his dropleg holster, you can rest assured that that piece just went up a hundred bucks now. (ie hk, sig, kimber/custom 1911) I guess thats supply and demand though.
Test drive a used cz. im pretty sure you'd like it. Theyre very nice guns, and not too expensive either. And this isnt a biased reply either. (as my favorite gun is a genuine colt 1911A1)

Looked at a CZ 75BD on the CZ website, it looked nice. Like it'd be comfortable in the hand, and has peaked my interest considerably. How are they for accuracy? And the price seems very nice, as well.

Any local places to go check out and put it in my hand? Firing not needed (For now), just want to see how comfortable it is.

Buy something online at:
www.gunsamerica.com
or
www.gunbroker.com
and have it shipped.

It'll cost you about $20 shipping and $20 for the transfer paperwork so add $40 to whatever "deal" you find.

But you CAN find great deal online. I've benefited from deals this way several times, but, I admit, I'm usually looking for rareish Smith and Wesson revolvers, and not popular automatics like you're looking for.

I would look at buying a used sig if money is an issue. You'll be glad you did.

well, most of the time, when i go to my local range to shoot my pistols, i rent one of theirs as well. and most of the time, its their cz's. i think theyre very accurate, and never had a problem with em. and theres got to be countless rounds thru this thing.

Hey, a Sig is a Sig, and once a guy has decided on a Sig, there's not much point in trying to sell him a lesser gun. (Not that I'm not a fan of CZ, which I am.)

If I had more $$$ I'd own a Sig or two. I think we should congratulate the guy for choosing a Sig and help him out.

Heck, his auto collection will be better than mine once he meets his goal, I'm sure.

true. they are among THE finest pistols on the planet....but he said money is an issue. and we all know sigs arent cheap. thats the only reason i suggested some less expensive alternates. hell, if i had money comin out my ears backwards, id go out and buy that sig this swedish soldier had on his hip back in europe... a sig p210. i about freaked when i seen it. those are REALLY expensive guns here. and they were just wearin em around, like they were just some beat up little berettas like here in the army lol. I got a picture of him with it too. beautiful pistol. Though, i wouldnt mind an original gp35 with a ring hammer, and in show blue either...

FWIW i got a P220, P225 and P228, & i prefer glocks lol, SIG's are good pistols though, glocks are just lighter for edc, of the 3 i prefer the 220 myself, but all are good guns.

I'm gonna recommend the Sig 229. You can get it in .40 S&W or .357 Sig. Or both, since you can use the same magazine with either. My 229 was(and still is) the ONLY automatic pistol I've ever owned that NEVER jammed in any kind of way. I can't believe I was so moronic to sell/trade it away. :(

Looked at that Summit site, and i'll probably most DEFINATELY buy a gun off there, no questions asked. And i'm also not apposed to paying 5-600 dallors for a sig. I understand that quality comes at price.

However, how are the Smith&Wessons? I've heard lots of great things about their revolvers, and the "4006" caught my eye (The newer one on Summit, for 325, or something?). I'm pretty certain i'll be gettin a Sig, though I might have to put some money away for a couple months. Just want as much information as I can get.

thanks for all the help, guys! I was thinkin' i'd have to shell out 700 or some for a sig. 500 I can handle.

Edit: S&W 4506 looks good too..

Sig Sauer is the next best thing to a CZ! Go ahead and get one!

Look at the Sig CPO program guns. Snagged a CPO 228 awhile back for $450 and it looked/is brand new. If you can't find something, give me a shout......I work part time at the largest gunshop here in Tacoma.

S&W autoloaders are a mixed bag in general. Some are really good and others are not so good.

SIG pistols are really good and are worth the price. Glocks don't appeal to many but, they are really good if you can get past the trigger and the looks. HK USP's don't do it for me personally but, they are really good pistols as well.

I really like the simplicity and reliability of the SIG pistols (and Glocks). Put a round in the chamber and pull the trigger and you get the BANG. A lot of other autoloaders have external safety's that must be manipulated to get the pistol to fire which can be a good thing or bad thing depending on the situation. I have good trigger discipline so, I only pull the trigger when I intend to so, I don't like magazine safety's or external safety's in general.

Regarding the SIG P220 specifically, I find recoil to be a little brisk. This will make it a little harder for a new shooter to learn good skills in the beginning. Mine also throws brass so far I never worry about a stove pipe jam and, I figure I will never find 20% of my brass (I reload so brass loss is something I consider) which could be an issue if you pick up your brass to keep the range clean.
