sigh....:grumpy:...im losing faith in the jyd2

You are right it is unacceptable for a blade to come to you rusted. Since you are buying it from someone on "there" i would assume it is something to do with how they are storing them etc... If i were you i would call up kershaw and speak with customer service about this problem. They will either tell you to try with the seller again or most likely tell you to just send it to them and they will replace the washers and blade or send you a new knife. i'm sure you have heard but they are the best in the industry with customer service. I have been taken care of by them 5 or 6 times some my fault some not.
thats a good idea....but the blade and washers arent the only problem...the g10 feels different...it just doesnt feel as solid as the one before this one...so i think im gunna give it one more try...and if not im just gunna get a griptillian

Yeah i think you'll have variences in g10 gripiness. Good luck either way both are fine knives.

but then again....the griptilian is kinda plain....and alot of people have em....the jyd2.2 is really unique....and i loved my first one until that unfortunant event :(

Not gonna lie, the stock griptilian isn't going to feel all that solid, with the plasticy-feeling and hollow handle. If you get one with a cuscadi or wilkins grip, however, you're looking at a whole different class of knife.

The great thing about the situation you're in is that you're dealing with a knife from a company with a well-deserved reputation for excellent CS, and I'm sure they'll take care of you, even if the seller doesn't. But beyond that, there are plenty of other amazing knives out there for you to discover if you decide you just don't want to deal with the JYD. Maybe you can discover the joy that is Spyderco or Benchmade, or even, if you decide to go crazy and seriously alter your spending budget, discover semi-customs or full customs. There's a brave new world awaiting you out there!

If there is rust on the blade, it is from the storage of the blade from the dealer you purchased it from. They have a damp warehouse most likely, or it was a return before.

If you oil your pivot you will most likely get all kinds of crap sticking to the oil. Oil is like a dirt, sand and lint magnet.

The JYD2 is a good knife, sturdy and strong with a good cutting edge.

I really suggest you retry it, or even look at the rake if you like the composite edge big stuff from kershaw.

Yea if I bought a brand new knife and it had a rusted blade I'd return that thing. If it only had a gritty pivot I would do it myself, every once in awhile you get one like that. The easy way is just to flush it thoroughly with hot water under a full force tap, flush with WD40 to get all that water out and then lube that pivot (I use tuf-glide).

Sounds like your just getting into it, I would suggest going to Home Depot and pick up a Husky torx set for like 5 bucks. It's a self contained set that stores the bits inside the handle, small, compact and useful. Has all the torx bits you need for most all knives. The JYD composite is nice knife, I have one and it's not that difficult to take apart and put together. It would be a good experience... That would be my way of doing it, taking it apart and cleaning it.

It takes time for a knife to break-in the ball detent will smooth out and the knife will flip like its gliding on glass. Through opening and use the mating surfaces wear into each other, the lock will settle in place, and the whole feel of the knife changes.

Buy some tools, torx bits, sharpening stone, knife lube, and some neverdull for the rust.

Rust happens, wipe it off before it becomes worse.

Give the knife a chance.

Are ball detents suppose to rotate? As far as I know they are just pressed in there, as for the rust that might be there because D2 isn't exactly stainless.

well the regular jyd2 might not have ball bearings but the composite blade does...and ive bought mine from (the most popular shopping website named after a jungle) and i can send it back at no cost to me and get another one.... but i do need a set of torx bits...i have one but the smallest it has is a t8...and all the t6s ive ever owned i end up stripping it pretty quickly

hahaha, I have the exact same problems with my T6's. worst part is you can't just buy T6's on their own at most hardware stores :(
shame about your jiddy experience though. I LOVE both of mine but I don't have the comp blade. just the regular in sandvik, and it doesn't use ball bearings. maybe downgrade? kershaw may have some kinks to iron out in their ball bearing systems
