Sign-up and discussion for a reground and cerakoted RAT pass-around

Great video review.

Truly shows what your touch on a blade can do!! Absolutely transform it!!

So, I'm very behind in posting to this thread, but I was the first to receive the desert sand Rat 1.

I was familiar with the knife burrito, but it was my 1st time seeing and handling one in person. These are really nice and I'll definitely be picking up a few now. Really great way to package up the Rat 1 for it's travels.

The cerakote was also extremely nice. Very smooth and so does not introduce a lot of drag when making deep cuts unlike some other coatings I have dealt with. It's very cool that Josh offers this service as well so your newly ground knife can be protected if need be.

Onto the blade... The majority of the knives that I own have factory edges, although some are from some very reputable makers and are very sharp. I have to say though, the edge on this $35 Rat 1 came sharper than probably any knife I've handled. A combination of the thinness of the blade (geometry cuts) and Josh's magic touch. I had to warn a few other family members who handle some of my knives that this one was much sharper that what they may be used to so they don't cut themselves.

I mainly used the Rat 1 for opening boxes, cutting down a few boxes, food prep, and other everyday tasks. It was a joy to use and had performed these tasks flawlessly. I looked forward to pulling it out every chance I could to enjoy it's razor sharp edge. There were a few thicker weeds that had begun to grow in the backyard that I decided to cut down with the Rat 1. It literally cut through them like a hot knife through butter. I should have pulled the weeds to get the roots and all, but couldn't pass up another chance to use the Rat 1. I had tried to cut the weeds as close to the ground as possible, and imagine I must have dinged a rock or two in the ground although I didn't feel it. The edge deformed and chipped somewhat easily but I imagine is to be expected with a thinly ground Aus8 blade. This wasn't something I would typically use this type of blade for on a regular basis, so I don't see this as a big concern. "Right tool for the job" kinda thing. Used properly in application, and this is an amazing blade!

Josh, thank you for putting this together. I'm very thankful to have been a part of this and you've really opened my eyes to what these re-grinds are capable of. You've re-defined what having a sharp blade means to me and will absolutely be getting some re-grind requests from me.

Thanks for posting man! Question: the edge chipping, was it just on the edge bevel or did it go into the primary grind?
