I had quite a few BF folks participate in my lotto last night for my 2nd edition signature barlow. I figured I'd share a few snap shots of it here on the forum. I'm quite pleased with how this one came together. I used AEB-L stainless steel for the blade and spring. The blade is hollow ground with belt satin finish and rides on a bushing. The mill relieved liners and bolsters are 410ss. The signature engraving is laser engraved and the threading was hand cut. The covers are sawcut bovine bone. Thanks for taking a look!

That is one of the finest Barlows that I have ever seen Jason . It would be great to CE & CF that one in March . The bolster Signature came out great . It looks like it is most likely Pinchable which would make it a great EDC as well for me . What is the closed length of it ??? Thanks for showing your latest master piece my friend .

I know I’ve already said so, but really fantastic job on that one, Jason! Very well done.:thumbsup: In addition to all the obvious things, one small detail I appreciate about this (and all your other folders) is the substantial sharpening choil. Just a small detail I always look for in a folder; can’t stand a small sharpening choil! 😁

Pretty much knife perfection 👌
This has everything I would want in a Barlow 👌
The blade grinds are awesome , covers are to die for , if I was going to ask someone to build me a Barlow, then this would be the blueprint I would want to have 👌
Great work sir 👌

That's beautiful Jason, an extremely well executed piece throughout!

I remember you guys talking about the setting up of the Laser, and that Bolster looks fantastic - very clean! Like the others have said - the Blade Grind is superb, love that Swage work - nice and crisp!
I don't know my metals at all well, but using the stainless with the Spring- it must be quite the "Super Steel" to be Stainless and yet to have that give for a Spring. Bone looks stunning my friend- really does!

Once again a hit out of the Ball Park.

I have NO idea on how a Knife Lotto works, but I take it the Knife has gone? Well there is a Knife whom the Owner will be over the Moon with!

Striking Barlow, Jason!! Very beautiful!! Nice detailing!!

Incredible work! Looks like it is a great slicer with the hollow grind on the blade. Those covers look great!

Thank you Harry! This one comes in at 3.5" closed. It's gone to its new home but I may possibly have one with me when I pop into Badger in March. I'll only be there for a few hours Friday morning. We are leaving out for Steamboat early Saturday so I'll need to get my "shopping" done and say hi to you folks then head back home. I hope to see you there.

I'm with you Barrett. Ample sharpening choils and bold swedges. Gotta have 'em!

What fine work! I would have participated in the lotto if I was aware of it. Seriously that is fantastic.
All of my lottos and first come first serve drops are conducted through my IG account at ritchie_handmade_knives I know social media ain't for everybody but it's how I do buisness primarily and so far buisness is good. I have deep respect for my supporters and collectors there. So grateful for them!

Thank you Duncan! I don't know that I would classify AEB-L as a "super steel" it is actually one of if not the oldest of the stainless steels. However it has superb cutlery performance qualities. It's a tough steel to beat as far as cost, ease of machining, grinding and finishing. It's a very tough steel with better than average edge retention. Some liken it to a stainless version of 52100. Here is a superb article by Dr. Larrin Thomas regarding AEB-L. I will say it is personally my favorite steel to work with from all I have tried so far.

Striking Barlow, Jason!! Very beautiful!! Nice detailing!!
Thank you Charlie! P.S. I do have HJ on my mind for 2024. ;)
