The first three passarounds are going, so its time to start a new one! Again, this will be a fairly normal passaround: keep the knife for one week maximum and then send it to the next person.

However, due to the prohibitively high cost of a knife like this, every participant will have to contribute $10-20 to purchase the knife. We will require ten people (myself included) to sign up to start the passaround. I'm sorry, but no international participants for this one.

The only thing left is to decide which model Khukuri we want for the passaround. Everyone is free to cast a vote, but only the ten that sign up will count. My vote would be for a larger (18"+) Ang Khola.

NOTE: A passaround has inherent risks to it. If you choose to participate, you agree that the money being sent is not in exchange for any good or service. Everything will be done to make sure everything runs smoothly, but there is certainly a possibility of the knife getting lost.

Signups should be emailed to me. After we have 10 people signed up, we will work out payment issues. I have paypal, so that would work best...

When sending the knife, send by a method that requires signature confirmation and insure the package for $200. This will be more expensive, but it puts everyone at a much lower risk.

Finally, when the passaround is complete, the knife will be raffled off using the California state lottery.

Signup List:
im2smrt4u - AK (Paid)
TheBadGuy - AK
Medic1210 - AK
metaxasm - AK

Please email me to confirm your interest in this passaround. Thanks everyone!

Hey Steve, I am insulted you didn't Automaticlly count me in :D E-mail sent

By the way, I have no clue about the models. This style of knife is new to me, so I will go with popluar opinion on this one. :)

That would be either the 30 inch Kobra or a 25 inch AK!

Steven, I'm in if it is for an Ang Khola either a 15" or 18". I think a lot of guys who want the biggest they got don't realize that the 25" AK is over 5lbs. That gets pretty tiring for anybody but the Paul Bunyans among us. I personally think a 15" or 18" is as big as you would need. Not to mention, they are cheaper. Heck, it even says for the 20" version "Unless you are physically fit and have serious chopping to get done opt for something smaller." The 15" costs $125, the 18" costs $145 and the 20" costs $195. There is also the Chiruwa AK which is "The mother of all 15" Ang Kholas" which sells for $145. It uses 1/2" blade whereas the other 15" uses 3/8". If you break it or bend it, you will get 2 free.

Like I said, I'm trying to be practical. I personally have no use for the monsters. I want to try something that I would like to buy if I didn't win it. The 20" and up sizes are just too big IMHO.

Let me know what you are planning on doing, but go ahead and put me on the list.

Mike

Well, if we did 5 people, I would rather increase my play time by one week and keep it for 2 weeks. I just don't know about paying almost a third of the purchase price, even if I did have 1 in 5 chance of winning. Why pay 20 when you could pay 95 and own one? Once you figure shipping for that heavy beast, you are looking at having over $35 in it. It cost me almost $10 just to ship the Sebbie priority and insured. I can only imagine what a 5 pound package will cost Priority. Just something to think about.

Again, I would really like to be in, but I will pass if it is going to be a $20 fee to play. I would rather just buy one sight unseen and sell it if I didn't like it (which I doubt would be the case).

I think that the people involved would need to hash out what you hope to do with the Khukuri once you get it.
I love all the HI Khuks and of the ones listed, I have the AK. Siru, BAS, GS and the YCS. The YCS is my all time favorite. With the deep twin fullers, it is lighter than you would expect. With the two large Karda(smaller knives) included with the YCS, you get to test three knives. The Gelbu Special is my next love. Once again the deep single fuller in this model makes it "fast" and easy to handle. The GS screams weapon to me. You all are right though in thinking about that 18" AK. They are great little tanks! Heavy duty tools with the ability to replace the hatchet and a knife on your field gear, and being on sale for less than a hundred dollars makes the deal GREAT!!:D ;) If all involved wander over to the HI forum and follow the links in Bill Martinos sig line, you will get a better idea of what to expect. Plus, Bill is one of the most strait shooting, honest men I have ever had the pleasure to deal with. He will always help you define what is best for your needs after you describe the intended purpose. Hope you guys have fun! HI products rule!!:D  :D

Count me in - but only if it's a 22" GRS or 25" AK. Otherwise, take others before me.

(into heavy choppers lately and would love to try them out)

It's not looking like it will be a really large one this time. Uncle Bill says he has a 25 inch AK on order. Maybe we can have a passaround with that if we get enough people interested.
