As suggested by TheBadGuy, we are going to hold a "high-end passaround" with a Large Plain Sebenza (not Classic). This will be a fairly normal passaround: keep the knife for one week maximum and then send it to the next person.

However, due to the prohibitively high cost of a knife like this, every participant will have to contribute $35 to purchase the knife. We will require ten people to sign up to start the passaround. I'm sorry, but no international participants for this one.

NOTE: A passaround has inherent risks to it. If you choose to participate, you agree that the money being sent is not in exchange for any good or service. Everything will be done to make sure everything runs smoothly, but there is certainly a possibility of the knife getting lost.

Signups should be emailed to me. After we have 10 people signed up, we will work out payment issues. I have paypal, so that would work best...

When sending the knife, send by a method that requires signature confirmation and insure the package for $400. This will be more expensive, but it puts everyone at a much lower risk.

Finally, when the passaround is complete, the knife will be raffled off, unless everyone can agree to sell the knife aftwards.

From the looks of it, we have a few people interested already:
im2smrt4u (paid)
metaxasm (paid)
T. Erdelyi (paid)
TheBadGuy (PayPal pending)
yiterp (confirmed)
Medic1210 (confirmed)
DaveH (paid)
NFMee (paid)

Please email me to confirm your interest in this passaround. Thanks everyone!

Regarding your email about raffling or selling, I could go either way, but prefer to sell. If we raffle, you got a 1 in 10 chance of getting a nice knife, provided it hasn't been too abused. However, if you sell it and split the price 10 ways, you pretty much got to try a Sebenza for free, and everyone does well, not just one. BTW, how would the raffle be done, since you are also in the passaround? You know as well as everyone that if you draw the winning name, and yours happens to be it, there would be some who would say it was rigged (not saying me, but you know some will). Just give it some thought so it can be done in a way you can also partake in the raffle without anyone calling foul.

Mike

Oh, and if you weren't sure, I'm interested.

Edited to add: BTW, how many have signed up already?

The names listed as "confirmed" are in the passaround for sure.

EDIT: All the other people displayed interest in the previous thread, but I'm not positive they want in under these conditions.

As far as the raffle goes, maybe I could have some co-workers do the raffle. My pastor could pull the winning name. hehe...

I'm in.

Maybe someone thinking of selling one could sell it to us to keep the price under $30. They seem to show up on the for sale forum for around $270.00. We are going to use the thing anyway. Just a thought.

Also a volunteer to draw the number?

:)

No need, I just brought a new large plain Sebenza home yesterday! I love it! It just feels better than the MT Socoms I traded for it. I handed it to my mother-in-law at a nephew's B-Day party tonight to cut the strings on a bunch of baloons, and she didn't even look at it funny, like she usually does when I pull out a big folder like the SOCOM. I had it out in the sun today, and for the first time, noticed it has a visable hammon, about 3/16" deep along the edge and tip. I've never noticed differential heat treatment on a production knife before! It seems like every time I pull it out, I find somthing else about it that I like, and haven't found anything yet that I don't. First knife I've ever owned that I can't say, I whish somthing about it had been done diffrently. It's certainly the best engineered and well thought out folder I've ever owned. I can only hope I'll continue to be this pleased with it. JDBraddy

Might be of interest. There is a Small Decorated NIB Sebbie in the Knife Exchange. It is a Pheasant Tail, and looks better than a plain Sebbie.

Yea, I saw that. It looks nice, but its a small...I think most everyone wanted a large...

I'm still working on the source. We need 10 people first!

I could draw the name, it would be better (in my eyes) for someone who is not involved with any one person in the passaround. Just email me when you are ready to draw names. clawhands1@hotmail.com

Wow! You could physically draw the name! I live in Victorville! :D

I was considering taking myself out of the raffle if we had one, that way no one would worry about fairness. This means I could stay in! Yay!

Still interested I just got my comuter up and runnin' if there's still room I'm in if not I'll catch the next one.

Cool, this thing is moving right along. Maybe one of the many Sebanistas around here will let one go for a nice price. This would be a great time to do a bit of recruiting for the movement.
:)

For fun in Outlook Express. Do a spell check on Sebanistas.
