• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

Silky 130 vs 170

banana-clip,

Large or extra large teeth are what Silky recommends for that purpose, and I'd agree based on my use of both types on harder wood.

In a relative's backyard there was a long-dead (but still standing---not rotten) fruit tree. Very hard, dry, dense wood. I tried both my large-tooth Zubat 330 and large-tooth Super Accel 210 on it. Both cut well. I didn't get a sense that the larger teeth weren't cutting smoothly or that smaller teeth were needed.

That said, when I bought my 210 I got a second fine-tooth blade---mainly for use as a bone saw on game. I haven't tried it yet. However, after seeing how well the large-tooth blade performs on really hard wood, I'm guessing that it will work fine on fresh bone and I may not need the fine-tooth blade.

Thanks, I'll have to get the large teeth one when I order my 170.

You're welcome. The smaller and finer teeth will give you cleaner cuts, say if you need more precision for woodworking, etc., but even then, the Silky larger teeth still deliver a cleaner cut than most hand or Skil saws that I have ever seen.
