I cut myself this morning pretty badly, took a big chunk off my thumb (right down to the wiggly bits), shaved half the skin off my index finger and 2 other minor little cuts on 2nd finger !

My hand is bandaged quite comically and people are going to notice !!

I need an excuse cos I'm not going to own up to how I actually did it

Cutting some wood shavings for a fire with my SAK. Set it down for a second to take a break and talk with my friend, then when I went to start up again I forgot to cut with the sharp end down, and ended up putting my thumb right on the cutting edge. :p

to my credit it was a Nylon Solo, which is a fairly symmetrical design, but still...

Muscle memory from using fixed blades with choils 99% of the time can be a real killer for that 1% of the time when you use a blade that has none

My BRKT Canadian Special used to get me all the time - wound up selling it bc it was just too annoying

Now the only knives I have without a choil are two very small barkies (under 2.5") and a RC Izula

:oI came real close to doing the same thing with my RC5...:D

I haven't cut my hand too badly in any very silly way. I guess the silliest way I've cut my hand slightly is playing with a balisong (butterfly knife). That comes with the territory, though.

A few months back I managed to put a nasty two inch long slash in the underside of my bicep while playing with my Emerson Combat Kerambit. It was closed, but the wave caught on my sweatshirt sleeve and opened it very effectively, with the point stabbing into my arm. I thought it was only a pin prick until I pulled off my sweatshirt and saw the skin splitting apart for at least two inches, exposing the layer of fat underneath. It cut very cleanly for perhaps four inches through the sleeve of my favourite sweatshirt too. It's all healed up now without complications, but I do have an odd scar to show for it.

I have the tendency to close all of my spyderco folders on my forefinger with the choil. But then i bought for no apparant reason this knife.

After flicking it open i dropped it on my forefinger and the blade sank up to the bone in my finger.....
i put it back in the box untill i traded it in what turned out a fraudulent trade with some ***hole scammer from Saudi Arabia.
I hope the knife bit him a lot harder then it did me!

Your gal pulled a Busse knife on you because you can't quite buying more Infi. You were trying to take the knife away from her because she was going to cut off you B#%&s
Thats when you got your hand cut! :D :D

Hope you guys have your tetanus up to date. Really I worked in healthcare for 10 years from the trauma room to wound clinics and go to a doc if you need to, especially if it went down to the bone. I shaved off a little chunk on index last week in the kitchen. There is an excuse. You saved your wife/girlfriends hand by pushing it out of the way of some kitchen gadget and sacrificed your finger.

My worst hand cut was at summer camp as a kid. I was splitting kindling with a hatchet, and gave myself a nice chop right to the back of my right hand. I have a nice, 2" scar across the back of my hand to this day. They stitched me up in the "emergency room"- which was literally in a trailer in the hills of West Virginia. I think the "stitches" did as much damage as the hatchet. Now, over 25 years later, you can still clearly see where each stitch went.

My poor hands are pretty gnarled up, I've broken all four fingers and my thumb (twice) and three of my metacarpals, plus my wrist (twice) on my right hand. Pretty much the same story, but not quite as bad on my left. That's the price you pay for living the "action adventure" lifestyle. :D

On a more serious side, I hope your alright bro. Just trying to put alittle smile on your face. Take care Brendan and if you need stitches I'd go get them. ;)

When I was young(er) and stupid(er), about 12-13 years old, I jabbed a knife point first into a tree trunk. I then put full force on the back of the handle, wiggling the knife back and forth to see how far I could push it in. Blade snapped, hand came open as I fell forward, jagged remains of blade sticking out of the tree stabbed into my palm and would have gone all the way through my hand if it hadn't hit bone.

That's about the silliest for me.

Nothing that you would want to admit to but for me ... cutting potatoes *2 and cutting bagels ... yes I should know how to use a knife in the kitchen but in my defense two of the three incidents (at least the ones involving the ER were before Dwayne started the business).

I'm going into work tomorrow and need a good explanation - I'm liking the 'broke up a cat fight" idea !!

I was practicing sinawali, the weaving motion you see people do with the 2 short sticks, but I was using 2 folding knives in a stabbing motion, and I let my pattern get too tight, and sunk 1 inch of the knife into my left hand where the thumb padding is on the palm.

I had to get 5 staples, and the Dr., stapling me was a member of the other wing chun school, he like like "you seem kinda tough, here's the staple remover, take them out yourself in 2 weeks".... needless to say that was more painful than getting stabbed.
