Silliest Way You've Cut Your Hand REALLY Badly !!

Silliest, or stupidest?

Stupidest it is. When I was about 22 (43 now) I was using a Gerber Mk 1 to open my last beer. I was using a knife because I was drunk, and the pop top broke off without the can opening. I was holding the can in one hand while stabbing at it with the other. As you can imagine, that didn't work out too well. Not only did the can NOT open, but I ended up with 9 stitches in the palm of my hand.

Brendan did you get stitches?

on my index finger I pretty much shaved all the skin off from 1st to just past second knuckle - nothing to stitch and on my thumb there a flap going down to the bone about the size of a 50p piece - no stitches. I don't know about the states but it would seem they don't bother with stitches here !! I cut my hand open with a saw a few years back and again, steri-strips and some bandage !!

the other 3 cuts are just superficial

Man it sure does'nt look very good with all that gauze dressing on your hand and fingers. I think the car door sounds pretty good.

Pushing through a piece of leather I was holding, with the edge facing inward towards my index finger. Almost cut it off! I was twelve years old at the time.

We should guess how you did it... Were you flipping it? Trying to baton the hair off your fingers?

Just kidding, cheers to a speedy recovery.

When I was 10 I tried to stab my non locking folder into a tree and it closed on my hand pretty good, no stitches

guess #1

holding something with left hand, chopping too close, maybe while someone called your name.

My mate was using his newly sharpened FFBM and was really happy with the edge he'd put on it. When passing me his knife he would often flip it so that he would let go of the handle and catch the spine of the knife. Well he tried it after doing some chopping an he was a little tired so when he caught the knife his finger rather than grabbing the flat of the blade curled round the edge. Yep you guessed it, 4 fingertips cut nearly to the bone.

Even had that point where he froze looking at his fingers curled round the edge, we looked at each other and he nodded then uncurled his fingers and the blood started to seep out. Cut the sleeve of his sweatshirt, wrapped up his hand then started to hike out.

True to form though he didn't let a little injury like that stop him from finishing off another chopping task before we got back tot he car and glued his cuts shut.

We still laugh about it now.

in case you boys in the US don't know they make the boys up in Glasgow pretty tough !!

I bet if it was a ganzza requirement to come up with a valid explanation you boys would be all over this !!

come on guys

Tried to catch a knife you bumped off a table, didn'tcha?

I reached into a drawer and the knife was unsheathed.
