I have the plans for the McDonald mill but lack the skills required to put one together. Here is my silly question. I know that you would got to a machine shop to have say the rollers turned, but what kind of business would you seek out to have the thing made from start to finish?

A welding Fabrication Shop would be a good place to start...Probably be a bit pricey for hourly labor charge plus materials. If you can locate a journeyman welder that either has a private one man shop or drives around doing repair work it might be less expensive just for his time if you provide materials.

I'm sure there are "tool" makers in this forum who would do it for you and would have all the necessary back ground and skills. I hopr some one replies.

......I hopr (sic) some one replies.

If they do, I hope it is by PM or email.

There are lots of shop workers that do side jobs at home in both welding and machining

I"d look for one of them.

Adam Booth in Pensacola is the only one I know if Florida, but he's- not that close to you.

My family is in the printing business, so we have guys who know how to maintain big frame looking things with lots of precisely machined steel rollers in them, but I don't think that we have ever asked any of those guys to build a press unit or paper roll stand. They tend to come pre-made and you just hook the parts together. One of the little Didde presses might be an interest source for already turned roller stock though. :D
