Silly question of the day

How does everyone measure blade length? Length of cutting edge or length from bolster to tip?

I guess I was a cop too long. I measure tip to bolster (guard). There are no silly questions.

As a beginner, novice, newbie I know that I am going to learn something every time I read one!

Oh yeah, I almost forgot...I measure tip to bolster/guard because to me everything forward of the bolster/guard is the blade. If there is a pronounced choil, then I specify. That's my .02.
