Silly Question

I know this is silly, but when did the little Spider logo start appearing on all of the blades right in front of the hole? My gray Calypso Jr doesn't have that.

Not a silly question, but perhaps an over-generalization, since not all models have the bug logo on them, the Kopa being the first example that comes to mind. Think it started in late '04 or early '05 and has been expanding ever since.

Thank you. Also, I know what some of the markings the various maker collaborations have, but I also see other markings like on the opposite side of the blade that I am unfamiliar with.

dan barnes is correct i think. i'm pretty sure the spyder marking started happening around the time of version 4 revs on delica/endura models for their standard line items. however, i don't know what the other markings on the other side of the blades are either, and i would like to know. i've got a caly 3 coming, and i know that it has these markings. it almost looks like SAL in jumbled up letters.

hopefully someone can help use out with that one.

I'm not sure, but I think there is a thread/sticky on the spyderco website forum that gives an explanation for the different makers marks on the various spyderco models.

Knives designed by Sal and Eric also have "maker's marks" on the off side of the blade, or elsewhere. Sal's is a stylized SAL, as shown on the clip of the Lil' Temperence in the photo below, while Eric's is a stylized EG, seen on the 83mm Manix...
