Silver bolsters?

I really prefer the NS bolsters myself. Here's one that is nice if you don't mind the blade etch (I like it). It makes a nice "dress up" knife. The Buck number on the box is "0110GYSSP59-B" and has a born on date of 10/09/2007. It also has an aftermarket sticker that says "Buck110WT".

I believe () SP59 stands for Special Projects, but as best I can tell, the etching and bolster work is aftermarket. I have no idea who did it.

I like that Dave, the knurl work(for lack of better word) on the bolsters is sweet.

I picked up a 1995 nickel silver 112 the other day. It's in pretty good shape, but with the typical silver scratches, but nothing too bad and it would be easily fixed at the Buck shop. That said, it has a lot of character, so I don't think I'll send it in. Blade is I'm guessin 90to 95% with a few typical work and sharpening scratches. Figured it was a rarity and I could always get my money back if I get tired of it. I needed it like I need a hole in my had, but it was a steal at $15. I like brass 110's, but the Nickel really grows on you. It's color reminds me of the beloved 500 series.

I use mostly nickel silver for my stone scaled knives and you even look hard at nickel silver it scratches! I kid you not - microfiber towels can leave micro scratches if you rub too hard or in circles!

I've tried shining up NS bolsters with soft cotton pads and even they will leave minute scratches. Trying to keep NS mirror polished if you use it at all is like trying to swim up Niagara Falls.
