silver dagger

Lets not jump on the fella for having a simple question in regards to his significant others lifestyle and choice of knife.

By "mildly curved edges" do you mean a Kris style of blade? for a custom knife with silver, gold and opal etc, you will be looking at alot of money. Customs can be several thousand dollars for a single piece. I can't name any one maker that would be willing to take on the project, but for what you're looking for you might have a big hole in your wallet once it's all said and done.

And it may take months or even years before you get it. Someone skilled enough to do custom work with those materials are usually in high demand and pretty booked up.

Im not caring about purpose. just the construction.

Mabe you should start caring, my friend. I bet John Bobbitt didn't ask when his wife wanted a new knife, and look what happened to him.  :barf:

Women with their own knives = very upsetting! :thumbdn:

A kris would be cool.
You can find alot on ebay with damascus blades and precious metals already on it.
A engraver could finish it for you.

I do not recommend the Protech Brend dagger. I have one and the grinds are NOT symmetrical..very poor work for a company known for good to great fit and finish. Also, keep in mind that the Brend dagger is much much much smaller in your hand that what the pictures lead you to believe. It is stated as a 5" blade, but seems like 4-4.5 in the hand. The handle is uncomfortable and overfills the palm of your hands.

For what you are asking, the only choice is to go custom.

Bob has no business in that picture. :D

... If y'all can please point me to someone who can make this and give me an estimate I'd appreciate it.

...but seriously. I need a good smith for this project

...please view my opening remark, and point me towards a good smith for the job.

... any other suggestions?

Gee golly gosh, if only Spark would set up a darn Custom Knifemakers forum here at Bladeforums...

I would imagine she used a kitchen knife.

Are you being serious?

So buy a freakin Shiva and take it to a silver smith!
You will not find a custom maker that can work in silver and set stones.

Help yourself with google.

There are some custom makers who work with stone, and plenty who use silver wire inlays and have gems set in the handle. From what I have seen, in high end custom knife making and jewelery making, there is a decent amount of overlap in their skills. As stated before, they are expensive and often have very long wait times.
Jay Fisher uses alot of stone in his knives, but he mostly makes full tang, stock-removal knives so no nice pommel. I say shoot some emails and pictures out to various makers who catch your eye and see what they think.

(Also, check out the custom knife section in this forum to get a feel for who some of the decent makers are, like markksr "suggested":p)

Man, this thread has some gems in it...Markksr, you're pretty hilarious.

Well I highly doubt this guy can afford something expensive or wait long as its probly a gift.

I say buy production and take it to a jeweler.

My Mother used to work as a jeweler and went to a art school here in Columbus to be a silversmith.

Gentlemen, let's keep this on topic. The original poster asked a legitimate question. Much as I hate to give out infractions for trolling ... um, wait ... Anyway, this is the General Knife Discussion, not Whine & Cheese.

m16a2soldier, I suggest you browse our Knife Maker's Gallery and For Sale: Fixed Blades for an idea of what our local knifemakers can do, and contact them directly.

Work in precious metals and stones as decorative elements is not extraordinary or difficult beyond what some of these people do regularly. Just flick past the ones who do utility styles in durable materials -- although even some of them may be willing to stretch a bit from time to time. :)
