Luis doesn't speak english so he ask me to thank you all for your comments and also if you have any question about the process you can ask him, through me.

Two exceptional artists at work. ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!

Thanks for sharing. Work like this is very humbling for most of us.

Truly stunning work, from all involved.
One of the things I love most about this craft, is the fact that I am constantly amazed at the skills and artistic ability of people. When we look at items of beauty like this, it is hard to imagine that it could have been accomplished with tools as simple as a hammer and chisel. Just beautiful.
Thanks for posting this, I enjoyed seeing the process very much.

That is amazing work. Huge talent.

What does he do if he makes a mistake 99% of the way through? I'd loose my mind!

Thanks again for posting all the pictures. I believe what he is doing is called chasing not carving. The chasing tools are used to hammer the silver down leaving high areas to create the relief. The metal is not being removed. the hollow handle and sheath are filled with pitch to support metal.

I am envious of his Damascus chasing hammer

Exactly Mark, here we call it "cincelado", you don't cut the material, you move it. (cincel = chisel, pretty obvious hu?)
I didn't know the english word, thanks!! Now I know...

太利害了~真棒的製作過程.

Manuel

Absolutely incredible. Done freehand with hammer and chisels in the old way. This is a display of astounding talent. The work of a master at such a young age. Beautiful work!

Manuel thank you so much for posting these pictures. Tell Luis his work is beautiful and incredible. I can't imagine the patience and dexterity involved in his process. Just superb!!!

That is what a criollo should be. Good to know that there are still artisans capable of doing such work.

Thank you for sharing this with us.
