Similar slipjoints to the Böker Techtool 1?

I was looking into slipjoints with a strong backspring for worldwide travel. I own a Victorinox, but I am someone who prefers to carry a main blade as opposed to having one on a multitool. I decided against the Sypderco Slipit models and want to go with something that's more of a gentleman folder, something between modern and traditional. No Buck or Case for me, either. And I ruled out quite a few sodbuster type knives, simply because they were either too big or because them not having a pocket clip kind of ruled them out for me.

I like the style of the Böker Techtool 1, it reminds me of a smaller Manly Comrade (which is too big for my EDC purposes) and has a much more capable blade than my Victorinox. However, as I have experienced their customer service to be very upsetting over and over again, I am not willing to buy Böker products again. I'm aware that Sanrenmu made the original A1 series which would then be issued by Böker as the TechTool throughout Europe. I looked at the Sanrenmu models and they do offer the single blade variant (the rest in the series consists of multitools), so that might just be the solution for me.

However, I am curious to hear your recommendations! Steelwise, anything in the hardness of AUS8 or 440C and upwards is absolutely okay.

I don't think it's much like the Boker you've mentioned, but I've had my eye on the Fallkniven U1c for awhile. Just cant yet drop the hammer on it, but it appears to me to be about the finest slipjoint around. That's a matter of taste of course, but I'd recommend checking it out.

I see what you like about it. I'd like a synthetic or wooden grip, however. I live in a cold climate and handles with so much steel (besides screws and liners, of course) get ridiculously cold.

I just got my Tech-Tool single-blade today, in OD Green micarta. I am very pleased with it in comparison to my SAKs. I wanted something just as a 'solo' blade, and it's definitely nicer in that regard than the SAK Waiter I use now. The blade is a bit wider, nicer finished, sharper OOtB, and with about the same pull strength of a typical SAK. I suspect the Sandvik might be a bit of a step-up from a SAK, also...though unsure. The G10 gives enough tackiness to feel like you have a secure grip, but it's not coarse so as to chew-up your pants. Heck, it even works well in my shirt pocket. The clip is deep-carry and works great, with just the right tension. FWIW, I don't think I've ever seen a glass-breaker tip on any knife shy of $100, LOL.

Check out Enzo folders, I think the model you would need is the PK70; non-locking, under 3 inch blade. They make great knives. I have the Enzo Birk (live in US) in D2 "Scandi grind" with curly birch scales. Also have Boker Plus Tech Tool 1 and love both knives. The Enzo is the better, but I have no problems at all with the Boker Tech Tool 1. Try checking out the Enzo PK70 - I think you will like it.

Maybe the Falkniven LTC. It has an anodized aluminum handle but the 3G blade steel seems to have a good reputation.

Edit: Sorry, it doesn't have a pocket clip.

I'd give your Victorinox another chance. a Swiss army knife isn't a multitool, it's a pocket knife that happens to have a few extra functions.
BTW the Victorinox gardner is awesome and has a nice strong blackspring ( they're not aus8, but they're not enough softer to matter for a slipjoint )
I would highly suggest giving traditional folders more of a chance, To get a good stout slipjoint knife that's actually worth a crap as a daily cutting tool you're best options are going to be traditional.
If you get something with a bail or lanyard hole you can put a suspension clip on it ( go look at all the beautiful traditionals on the traditional subforum and it won't be long before you want one )

Enzo PK70 in CF and s30v. I've never owned or even held one, just ogled it a bunch. Sounds like it's exactly what you're looking for.
