Does anyone have a suggestion for a knife similar to the ZT 0562CF BUT not a flipper? I like everything about the 0562CF except the flipper

I'm looking for something preferably with 20CV, CTS-204P, or M390 steel

Drop point, Spear Point or Clip Point blade shape

So not a Sebenza or the ZT0850

Any suggestions much appreciated!

What aspects of the 0562CF are you looking for? If you're just looking for a big strong knife with a blade in that steel family, the Benchmade 581 Barrage has M390 but will out-slice the ZT. 20CV Griptilian would be pretty comparable I'd say. But if you want CF scales on either, you have to get custom scales.
Benchmade and ZT have really similar warranties.

What are you looking for in particular?

Simple answer - Grind it off.
(Does that model even have thumb studs? I've never given it a second glance)

I just looked it up - it's got thumb studs; so I stand by my original response. Grind off the flipper tab

It has blade stops that look like thumb studs but are virtually impossible to use as thumbstuds. (I and many others have tried)

I recommend the original posted tries to find a used ZT 0550. That would be the ideal knife for him. Be careful where you buy from. There are alot of fakes made of this model.

I would say a hinderer xm-18 non fliper, like bloody said, this is practically THAT knife

Not interested in 0550. Had one and sold it. Scales on it are awful.....feel like sand paper. Yes I know I could replace them but I don't want to have to spend an extra $60-100 to customize. Additionally, I don't want S35VN. I want one of the steels I mentioned on original post

I would go with a quality G10 scale but would prefer Carbon Fiber

So only looking for reccomendations that match all that plus what I said on previous post.

And the thumb studs on 0562CF really are only bkadestops from a functional standpoint. It's nearly impossible to deploy the blade that way. Have to use the flipper. So grinding off the flipper won't work.

Thanks

I believe they come in CPM20CV as well. Not sure about the non flipper, but the flipper does I believe. Don’t see why the non wouldn’t offer the same.

You’ve basically ignored three suggestions of the XM18 non flipper, is there something you don’t like about it? That is essentially the knife you describe. We’d like to help, but need more to go on if you’d like to stay away from the Hinderer.

Eta, just saw that Lapedog and Mike addressed the blade stop on the 562 point.

The KW Exclusive Spyderco Military S90V/CF/Ti. It doesn't have the steel you prefer but S90V is right up there and arguably has better edge retention. On sale now for $240. One of the very best knives I've ever owned.

I’ve owned 4 and they could all be flicked out with the thumb studs. Wouldn’t be my preferred method on this one though. Strong detent, made to be a flipper.

Odd all the ones I have tried can be pushed out with the thumbstuds but it was very awkward due to the strong detent and the fact that there is no room between the scale and thumb stud to get my thumb behind the stud.

People who complain about Sebenza thumb studs and the Gayle Bradley liner lock being uncomfortable would have nightmares about using the 0562 studs. Quite uncomfortable on the one I had. But they do work (for me atleast)

Edit: Damn iPhone autocorrect

Hinderer makes a non flipper spanto in M390. Sadly, not in the slicer grind...yet. Probably about as close as you're going to get at the moment without a warranty voiding mod. All current non flipper slicers are S35VN, as far as I know. But they sure are nice!

I only have one, but am also able to open it with the studs. I use my thumbnail.
