SIMONICH TALONITE CARNIVORE

How much are we talking about Rob? Looks great! Good work! Nice knife!

I have reserved one as well, couldn't stand it ! I handled one that Rob had at the Blade Show West, verrry smmmoooth, beautiful and with a Talonite blade, probably a knife for the rest of your life. Now I've got all year to decide on scale material, wanna wager a guess how many times I'll change my mind over the next few months?
I guess this will push a Sebenza(and everything else!) off my list for 2K, but it'll be worth it.
Gary, I'm sending positive vibes out for swift completion of yours.

I was also going to buy a Sebenza this year. But why would anyone want one when for not much more you can one of these. And only 33 made will insure collectability.

Now, what kind of handle material?

Penguin,

Your posts finally convinced me- I've E-mailed Rob and put in an order for one of the last two Simonich Custom Talonite Carnivores. So any one else out there who has been waffling, better get on the ball because this is your last chance!

Now I just have to survive the wait! I believe that a man should always have challenges of this magnitude to face- it makes you stronger

Any updates on the talonite carnivores? Has anyone else received one? Last I heard from Rob, it would be summer before I would get mine. Summer is almost here. I cant wait to get my hands on it. Rob, would you care to email me with the status?

I did get mine, made a separate post about it a while back, smooth opening and razor sharp. Keeps it's edge very well, the edge is ground slightly thicker that I normally like but it push cuts through leather almost as easy as thinner blades. Here is a scan of mine, with Desert Ironwood scales, very nice and comfortable.

Gary,
That is one gorgeous piece Of Ironwood - glad
you're liking yours so much - the edge is a little thicker with the Talonite but at least on mine it doesn't affect the cutting ability.

Ah, this thread has reawakened the excitement of knowing that at some point, I'll be holding one of these in my hand! It's ok though, that the wait is long, that means that Rob is doing well and I'll have time to save up enough spare change to pay for it !

I think I've finally decided on the scale material, at least until the next time I go to the wood workers store in town! Then it changes every minute or so till I leave !
But the coolest thing is that I'll be turning 50 later this year, so I'm figuring this is my "mid-life crisis red Ferrari" ! It could be worse, at least that's what I keep telling my wife !!!!!
