So being that my parks 50 was just delivered and I had a customers knife that needed it I was in need of a quench tank. So I scrounged around the shop and noticed an old Jerry and wondered to my self. After a few sec with a plasma cutter we had a rather nice quench tank. I then removed the chain that retained the cap. Then I drilled a hole all the way through the cap where the chain was connected. This hole fit my little temp prob perfectly. Then if I need to empty the tank I can unscrew the cap and screw in the spout and pour it into the bucket easily. It worked so well that I thought I would share it with my fellow bladeforum makers. It also just happens to fit 5gal of oil perfectly and has handles lol
Next I'm going to fab up a little lid flap that is on a hinge.

CAUTION, DONT CUT TANKS THAT HAVE GAS FUMES IN THEM
there are ways to safely deal with tanks that have fumes or recently held gas but I am not qualified to expound on thoes.

That's what i use except I cut out the spigot so I could keep the handles.

I have been using a HD turkey frying pot for years, but it can be a little short for blades over 12" because it leaks around the handle rivets. So I went to my local army-navy store and bought a two pack 120mm mortar round can. I was originally shopping for 155 or 8 inch howitzer projo or powder can, but this works just fine.

Good idea! Always love reading and seeing what you do! Keep it coming!
