Hi,

I'm looking for a simple, well built EDC folder.
It needs to have the following traits:
#1 - Good steel for blade (edge retention)
#2 - Solid G10 or Aluminum body (no fancy pattern or holes)
#3 - Solid deep carry pocket clip
#4 - Slim design
#5 - Solid lock (type not important)
#6 - Assisted opening (type not important)
#7 - Blade between 3.25" and 3.75"
#8 - A blade design for easy sharpening
#9 - Drop point tip
#10 - Roughly 100$

Thanks for any advice or help provided.
Mike

the Kershaw Knockout would fit your needs at a good price and some other Kershaws also. For between $100 and $150 you could step up to a ZT 350 or 770 or 566.

I don't know the specs for all their models, blade lengths, steels used, etc. (don't own many Kershaws :o), but what I do know is that it sounds like a Kershaw will fit your criteria. the only exception is "good steel"... what some consider a good steel is old news to others. personally, I like their 14C28N

I'm gonna throw out that there may be some trouble with the Blur and it being a solid lock. TheLateBoyScout on YouTube made a video about a failure he had had. I was looking at some Blurs not too long ago and was able to replicate the failure on 1 of them. So my advice if you take that route is be able to put your hands on the knife and see if you can cause a lock failure before purchasing any specific one

I just happened upon this post in the exchange: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...-Tolerance-0770-Aluminum!-Pics-inside-100-TYD!

It fits all but #9 of your requirements:
1- Elmax - great steel
2- Aluminum handles (both scales)
3- Deep carry clip, left or right
4- About 7/16" thick
5- Stout liner lock
6- Assisted-opening via flipper
7- 3.25" blade
8- Pretty straight edge - easy to sharpen
9- Modified Wharncliffe blade shape (not drop point)
10- Exactly $100 (and comes with some blue anodized titanium hardware too)

Sounds like the OP is looking for a Spyderco PM2. A Delicate would have been perfect, but it no longer comes in G10.

I like both of those spydercos too but neither are assisted openers. As for an AO knife as other have said Kershaw makes several good ones with the leek and knockout my two favorites. Of course g10 isn't as common to kershaws as it is to Spyderco

The hole in the blade makes it assisted opening; numerous laws in the US and especially Australia and the UK classify Spyderco knives as assisted opening.

I was going to suggest a Delica or Endura but the OP wants G10. They would have been my #1 recommendation...light, good steel, drop point, everything.
